Vaxjo is a fairly new and up-and-coming team in Sweden. They're a fun team that's been pretty heavy on foreign veterans, as they don't yet have a big youth movement in their organization (in Sweden most of the big teams have their own development), so I'm not surprised they go out and sign a guy like Armstrong.

Oh, and I have a brother and a sister in Vaxjo. It's about one hour and twenty minutes east of my hometown

Remember when he had 40 points in 47 games as a rookie playing with Sid? I was all over this guy, absolutely loved him. That ended up being his career high of course, matched it once in Atlanta in like 80 games.

Scott Munroe? Rhett Rakhshani and Cory Murphy too.

In the past they've had guys like Noah Welch, Fredrik Norrena, Martin Gerber, Liam Reddox, Tomi Kallio, Jonas Holos.

How have they been doing in the league? Is Martin Gerber still their starter??

Nope, it will be Munroe and Mattias Modig (signed with the Pens a couple of years ago) this year. He wasn't with the team last year either.

In two seasons in the SHL (formerly the SEL) they haven't reached the playoffs, but they haven't been bad enough to risk falling down a division either. They've ended up 9th or 10th.

Do you get out to many SEL games in a season??

What did you think of Silfverberg when/if you saw him play over there??

Who is the next Silf to come over with so much promise??

Not too many. I do go to as many home games I can for my hometown's team though. Halmstad Hammers. They play three divisions below the SHL, so it's not nearly as good quality hockey-wise, but it's a lot of fun anyway

Didn't really catch much of Silfverberg until his last season, when I started loving that sick shot of his. Basically I thought he was as good a shooter that Sweden is going to get at the moment, after he acclimates to the NHL. The closest thing Sweden has to Stamkos, even though they aren't close in play styles. It's just the shot quality that reminds me of Stammer.

I think he has a better wrist/snap shot than Stamkos. Stamkos is all about that one-timer.
