Default Keeper help!! Who to keep

I'm trying to find out what keepers i should select (8). tough because i have to consider CAP space and the fact I don't draft until the 4th round (defending Champ) any input is greatly appreciated: This league starts 2 goalies, I've put the guys i'm currently have as keepers in bold. Franson had same comparable numbers as Kronwall and toss up between the two rookies in Gallagher and Saad and although Reimer did amazing for me last year, he's getting screwed in T.O.

In a 14 league, there isn't anyone that will trade you for Staal? I know his cap hit is high, but surely someone could use him? And I hear what you are saying about Franson, but the rumours from Dreger are that he wants $4 million per to sign....so don't expect to get the same value per $ as you did last year.

That would be a difference maker if its 4m/year and I'm trying to tade Stall But would have to wait closer to the start of the year because of his injury that is another big scare to add to his cap hit.

I'd easily keep Carlson as your Dman

I think I'd keep Staal and try to find a way to make it work. Do you really need two similar players like Hartnell and Simmonds? Also, Stepan was great value but he's got to sign now and his next contract will be huge, and I don't know that he's all that valuable with those scoring cats.

Between Gallagher and Saad I like Gallagher, he should give you lots of hits the way he plays, despite his size, and decent PIMs, and my feeling is he'll be a very solid points guy when all is said and done (already playing with Desharnais and Pacioretty, and he's a good fit on that line).

Assuming you do not find a trade partner for Staal I would keep him instead of Simmonds. He may have a tough cap hit but his value will only go up from here and fetch you a better return once he gets playing again.
Carlson would also be my keeper for your Dmen. Dunno if this is THE big breakout year for him but I do expect an improvement over the last few years for him.

Would help if you put their cap hit with the player.

I would agree, finding a way to keep Staal is worth it for sure.

I like Kronwall over Franson, but can appreciate the cap issues this brings.

Sorry Molson, guys like Stepan and Franson cap hit is unknown at this point but guaranteed will be 4+ a year. I've placed the players based on last year FPTS and included the cap hit. Hartnel had a bad year last year (INJURY) but was 1st in FPTS the year before. Kinda need to make deals cause with Getzlaf/Staal and Rinne i'm already at 23.5M :/. Tough call to decide which 8 to keep hehe.

I'm not used to multi-category or cap, so take this with a grain of salt.

If it is hard to move Staal because of his injury, I'd also take offers on Getzlaf. If you can get a significantly bigger/cheaper upgrade with Getzlaf, then I'd considering moving him and keeping Staal instead.

Otherwise, it's hard to make comparisons for players because I don't really understand your league. I'm not sure if you do a head-to-head thing, or if you get a set amount of points per category.

Finally, while I'm sure a guy like Hartnell is probably gold in a set up like this, he's another guy I might try moving for a high draft pick, if possible. I don't have a lot of confidence in him.

it is set amount of points per category.

    I was offered two 1st , 2nd and a 3rd for Getzlaf & Rinne.

would help my cap situation big time but would be counting on Anderson and Riemer to get it done..

how do you feel about that?

Impossible to say unless you give us an indication of who might be available with those picks. We don't know if it's just the latest crop of drafted rookies, or if undrafted players go in your pool. Impossible to answer without more details...

NO sir. Do NOT make that trade.

Rinne isnt a player you deal for picks. Let alone Rinne and Getzlaf.

Based on your cats and assuming your other gm's are dollar scared right now i select these 8.

Do not be fooled by Hartnell's year 2 years ago. It was a clear deviation from his normal stats. He's solid for sure but not 6 million solid and the odds of him getting back to that plateau are so very slim. He and Staal are people i'm trying to move into picks.

As to Stepan he's a must. He's over a hit per game he's gotten up to just under a point per game and he's averaging over a +20. He's a solid solid multi cat guy.

15 team league and everyone keeps 8.. everyone along with rookie class goes in a draft

    leafs

i hear ya. but currently, my earliest pick is in the 4th round which is why i'm really trying to acquire picks.. their will be plenty to be had in the draft meaning guys won't give much for the likes of hartnel, maybe Stall but the question mark on his health whch will also deduct what i can get for him.

I thought i was crazy too having getzlaf and rinne both in the same deal for picks but the fact of the matter is both combine 15.4M is a big hit. Rinne plays on a absolute terrible team. Played with an injury last year but still, Nashville's forwards aren't good enough to win games.I'm able to pick easily 8 decent guys out of: simmonds/gallagher/carlson/saad/stepan/anderson/reimer Staal, Hartnell, Saad, Franzen, franson hell even dupuis and brouwer and have two 1st, 2nd, 3rd, two 4ths etc or keep Getzlaf AND Rinne and have my 1st pick not until the 4th....

soo many scenario's... lol thanks for all the feed back BTW

Ah you're cap hit vs actual salary. That does change it up slightly.

As to Rinne in each of the 4 years before last he was top of the league. Nashville hasnt gotten worse if anything they've gotten better. They are a system based team. Rinne is going to be between 30 and 40 wins with a ton of shut outs and top of the league save %. He's elite. He's one of 3 goalies who are virtual locks to make a difference to your core.

Move Getz. No biggy. He's not actually the stud everyone gives him props for being in my opinion. But dont move Rinne.

If you like that deal for picks try offering him Getz and Reimer as opposed to Getz and Rinne. Work him a bit.

But sir you will regret moving Rinne.
