Thank goodness. I was worried they weren't going to sign him in time.
That's a lot of money, but they're buying up UFA years here. I don't mind it.
Bogosian's up next!

#NHLJets agree to terms w/ Blake Wheeler on a new six-year contract worth $33.6 million. Cap hit of $5.6 million per year.
Thank goodness. I was worried they weren't going to sign him in time.

He had a great season, he is a good solid player but 5.6 million/year !!?

Those comparable look right. MSL's real salary takes him out of it, and everyone knows JTs contract is ridiculously good for the Isles. Everyone else there seems fine. Wheeler has led the Jets in scoring both of the last two years.
Agreed. Hard to find a 6'5" 200+ lbs. forward with lightning speed and his skill-set.
As a Jets fan I am thrilled that they're locking up this core of young players to long-term deals at reasonable cap hits. Once the cap rises and these players are all in their prime the Jets should be in good shape.
Agree with you Cascade. Really good deal, especially for what Wheeler brings. I personally think he is better than Kane, but that's just my opinion.
Blake Wheeler is just a damn good hockey player, one of my favorites at the moment. I agree he's ahead of Kane right now.... I do think Kane has another gear especially as a finisher that will pull him ahead in a couple years though. Plus his physical game is just so much more "there".... Wheeler knows how to use his big frame to his advantage, but he doesn't go on the attack nearly as much as Kane does.
This is a very solid deal for the Jets.

There was no doubt Wheeler was going to get more money then Little.. I think once the cap goes up this will look to be a good signing.. And ofcourse this all means Wheeler has to EARN this deal.. I have seen mmy fair share of Jets games, and lets just say Wheeler doesn't exactly show up every shift/period..
Jets are doing some fine work.. Get BOGO signed!!

He was the big fish so to speak of all the RFAs. I love the deal. He's going to prove a lot of people wrong in the next few years. 70+ points
