30 team NHL salary and salary cap dynasty league where you keep your players until you trade them or they become NHL UFAs. Dress 1 goalie each week but your starting goaltender can not play more than 84% of the weeks in any given season. Goaltending stats are GAA, SV%, Wins and Shutouts. Which goalie should I be keeping and which should I be looking to trade this summer?

    Antti Niemi or Sergei Bobrovsky

    Dobber Sports Blue-Chipper

    Default D vs. G

12-team dynasty, salary ($200 cap at auction, can buy a $20 increase), auction draft
    3C, 2LW, 2RW, 2F, 4D, 2G
Fwd Only G, Fwd Only A, Special G, Special A, D-Pts, Plm, GAA, Goalie Net Pts, Save Pct, GWG+Shootout G
Goalies are key; 30% of stats for 13% of players.
Keep as many as you want, subject to contracts or salary escalation.
    6 Bench, 1 IR, 6 Prospects
Upon call-up, prospects can be signed for up to 5 years at $5 salary, making them very valuable. For example, I have had Giroux under contract at $5, when his open auction value is $45-$55 (Crosby is at C$63).

    Keepers for 2013-14 (C=contract, max of 10)
    C: Stamkos C$5, Giroux C$5
    LW: Ryan C$32, EKane C$5, Prust $6, Bartschi $6
    RW: Parenteau $6, Vrbata $6
    D: Shattenkirk C$1, Hamilton C$5, Phaneuf $12, Voynov $6
    G: Price C$29, Bob $11, Niemi $29 (maybe)
P: Jones, Lehner, Saad, Galchenyuk, Scheifele, Coyle

Thinking of trading Shattenkirk C$1 thru 15-16 for Corey Crawford C$5 thru 16-17. Niemi is a bit high for me, and this would not only give me more cap room but solidify G for three years. With two other contracts at D and Seth Jones coming up, I think I can afford to trade him or Hamilton. The target owner is a St. Louis homer VERY interested in Shats.

    a) Would you trade Shats or look to trade Hamilton elsewhere for F scoring?
(other potential targets: PKane, Landeskog, Neal, Zetterberg)
    b) Offer Shats for Crawford + any of Gormley, Morgan Reilly, or his #1 prospect pick (I don't have a #1 this year)? Too much?
    c) Trade both for G stability & F scoring?

    Thanks!

    Hi Angus,

My league is a points only league...a goal is a point and an assist is a point. We can keep one player from year to year. Bottom line do I keep Ovechkin or Tavares? I was leaning towards Tavares since he is younger and hasn't hit his prime yet. Thanks in advance.

    3 time P.H.L champ 2009, 2010, 2013

    P.H.L league
    Goal 1 point
    Assist 1 point
    Goalie win 2 points
    Goalie shutout 3 points
Roster size - 5 centres, 5 forwards, 5 defence men and 2 goalies

    Hey Jeff,

Thanks as always. Coming off a 3rd championship my team has a tonne of depth for a 10 team league and this year we are expanding to 11 teams. Basically we normally keep 7 forwards, 4 dmen and 2 goalies but for this year we are roster freezing 6 forwards, 3 dmen and 2 goalies so that the new GM can select 1 player from each team and once that is done we can then make trades and set our actual pre-draft roster of 7 forwards, 4dmen and 2 goalies. We draft annually in September until all teams have 18 forwards (including 4 bench), 8 dmen (includes 3 bench) and 3 goalies (includes 1 bench) and 10 prospects (all prospects must be under the age of 26 and can be absolutely anyone)

    Scoring:
    Points
    Goal = 1.5 pts
    Assist = 1 pt
    Penalty Minutes = 0.25 pts
    Plus/Minus = 0.5 pts
    Goalie wins = 1.5 pts
    Shutouts = 2 pts
Goalie Games Played = 0.5 pts

    Here is my roster:
    Alexander Semin
    Thomas Vanek
    Milan Michalek
    Daniel Sedin
    Patrick Sharp
    Marian Hossa
    Henrik Sedin
    Mike Fisher
    Brad Boyes
    Frans Nielsen
    Devin Setoguchi
    Blake Wheeler
    Colin Wilson
    Mikael Backlund
    Troy Brouwer
    Niklai Kulemin
    Ville Leino
    Max Pacioretty
    Radim Vrbata
    Marion Gaborik
    Joe Thornton
    Evgeni Malkin

    Mike Green
    Duncan Keith
    Mark Streit
    Zdeno Chara
    Oliver Ekman-Larsson
    Cam Fowler
    Brian Campbell
    James Wisniewski

    Ilya Bryzgalov
    Anders Lindback
    Kari Lehtonen

    Minor Leaguers:
    Michael Neuvirth
    Kyle Palmieri
    Luke Adam
    Emerson Etem
    Ryan Johansen
    Mark Scheifele

Trades are hard to come by right now especailly for me as I highly doubt anyone in my league wants to see me 4-peat. My question to you is, prior to expansion here are my keepers:

    Daniel Sedin
    Henrik Sedin
    Evgeni Malkin
    Max Pacioretty
    Alexander Semin
    Thomas Vanek

    Zdeno Chara
    OEL
    Mike Green

    Kari Lehtonen

I think the tossup for me is the 6th forward whether or not to keep Vanek, Thornton or Sharp...it is goal heavy. Would you keep these same forwards?

Our league is a limited keeper, in that you can only hold onto players three times.

    League Stats:
G, A, PPP, PIM, SOG, blocked shots and hits
W, GAA, Sv % and SO

    1. Pick four to keep:

    Pavelski
    D. Sedin
    Hartnell
    Backstrom (C)
    Lundqvist
    B. Ryan
    Giroux
    D. Brown
    Couture

    2. What does your crystal ball see for production from the Sedin's under Tortorella?

    3. D. Sedin or P. Kane moving forward with the above stats?

    Thanks again!
P Kane. Younger, more upside. Sedin is safer bet for now, but not by much.

I like the Sedins - see them as 70-80 guys for the next 2-4 years.

Alex Edler / Dion Phanuef / Oliver Ekman-Larsson / Jared Spurgeon / Brendan Smith
    Jimmy Howard / Corey Crawford
Victor Fasth / Ray Emery / Patric Hornqvist / Cam Atkinson / Charlie Coyle

    And my Farm:

    F - Tyler Toffoli D - Raphael Diaz - 1.2M$
    F - Alex Killorn - .875M$ D - Adam Larsson -.925M$
    F - Gabriel Bourque - .635M$ D - T.J. Brodie - .6M$
    F - Craig Smith - 2M$ D - Matt Tennyson - .925M$
    W - Tyler Johnson - .740M$ D - Mark Barberio - .6M$
    F - Chris Kreider - .9M$
    F - Ondrej Palat - .588M$
    F - Alex Chiasson - .9M$ And 1st rnd pick in 14 left.

I have 13M$ in Cap Space.

My biggest concerns are "Is Okposo ready to take that step we saw in the playoffs?"

Is Spurgeon going to stay PP 1 or is Brodin the golden boy going to get the minutes?

Who from my farm is the weakest link to look at moving to fill one of the above gap's

    Thank you
    Okposo - yes he is.

Spurgeon - will stay PP1. He offers more there relative to Brodin (Brodin's true value is two-way play).

Probably Bourque - don't see a ton of upside there.
