    Default Ovechkin Trade done

    8 team league
    g,a,plus minus,shp,ppg,ppa,

I got Ovechkin and 2 3rd round picks between 16-24

    for

Mackinnon, Zibanejad, a first round pick in 2014 and 2015

There is a clause that he must play atleast a full year in the nhl, if he decides to go
to sochi and stay there after the olympics the trade is nul and void.

Outstanding trade for you, especially if the first round picks aren't of the "lottery" variety. But even so, you still get the best player in the deal without giving up too much to make it happen.

Mackinnon is probably the best prospect in fantasy hockey, and Zibanejad should be a really solid two-way Center for a number of years; however, proven over potential is always the way to go.

The fact that you got a clause in there in case OV decides to pull a fast one and "retire" from the NHL just makes this all the more appealing. Slam dunk IMO. Cheers

    What a steal.

In general i really donīt get all the KHL fear for russian players. Yes it has happened with Kovalchuk, but Ovechkin is going nowhere.

Good trade for you. MacKinnon will be a very nice player, but you capitalized on the current hype and stole an elite player. Bravo.

Basically even in an 8 team league, but in a deep league, side B would win.

Unless Mackinnon turns out to be Crosby 2.0, the Ovechkin side wins by a mile.

I couldn't give a complete answer since he didn't identify the value of the draft picks. If they're insanely high, he arguably loses the trade.

Aside from the proven elite (or near-elite) for potential argument, the fact that it's an 8 team league tells me that prospects are not as valuable as other deeper leagues. There could be more context/info (e.g. numbers of keepers to show what value the picks are) but basically getting one of the best players in the league for very little experience is a big yes for me. Maybe McKinnon gets there one day, but when will that day be? Good job capitalising on the hype.

That's the key here. A lot of people will overpay for anyone in the top 10 in a shallow league. That'd maybe change if it was something like 20 NHL players and a 50 man farm team

That trade appears to be outstanding value for you. I would be very pleased indeed with that trade.
