    Default Targeting Stamkos

Okay so I have the 3rd overall in the draft for the league in my sig and I was thinking of using it in a deal for Stamkos. I'd like to load up for a run at getting the title back. Would the following tempt you as a Stamkos owner:

    #3 + Zetterberg + Granlund + Schwartz + 2014 1st (top 8)

If not this ( i doubt it is just not sure what to add ) then what would it take from my team to do it?

    Thanks everyone.

Not even close to get Stamkos. The price for Stamkos will cost you either Ovechkin or Malkin.

Agreed. After reading that offer I instantly went to your signature to look for your studs. That would be it. Potential is not enough for one of the elite. Ask yourself this question - would you be tempted if you had Stamkos? Put yourself in their shoes.

You might have to throw in Lundqvist. It's tough to say, but I'm a Stamkos owner, and the guy is pretty consistent every year (always seems to be in the 90-point range). Ovi isn't. Malkin isn't.

As a Stamkos owner, you would need to start with one of those two guys, and then add on from there.

I do realize that it usually takes a top player to land one. I figure it was worth checking it out as I started my team with neither Ovie or Gino and traded for them. Thought I might try the same with Stamkos. I'll tinker with the offer a little bit and try it out. Worst that can happen is he says no.

    Thanks for the input guys.

while anything can happen for sure you can't compare picking up ovi and malkin to stamkos

ovi had a few seasons of laziness and malkin a few seasons of injury while stamkos had a few seasons of being one of the top fantasy options

grabbing players from impatient owners is much different than targeting players who are getting it done

No way that's even close but i do think it may be possible to get him without losing one of your big 2 if the package is good enough. Try something more like Getzlaf,Sedin,#3 overall, Granlud

Acquiring Stamkos without giving Ovechkin/Malkin seems almost impossible here.
Maybe, maybe if you package at least 3 of Getzlaf, St.Louis, Letang and Lundqvist. Add to that a nice pick. Even then, I think that your offer will be declined.
And, if you want to go for it this year, this is really not a good way to do it.
I think Stamkos is the most difficult player to acquire, after Crosby.
I traded for Stamkos two years ago. His owner was in contention by mid-season.
    Giroux + Kopitar + Vanek + Byfuglien + Thomas + spare parts.
    I don't regret my move. But I'm in a keep-6, not a keep-all...

    H. Sedin+Lundy+3rd..

That would be the deal that I would be offering if I had your team.. And from there see who he likes and doesn't like..

Really depends if the owner is even considering moving him too. As a Stamkos owner, there aren't too many deals I would except, and the ones I would, you wouldn't like to overpay to such a degree.

This is key. It also depends what the other manager needs. Obviously you know you need to give a fair bit so unless you know where they stand, spending time trying to come up with an offer might not get you anywhere.

If you want my elite forward, I would expect Malkin coming back at me. Maybe Ovy +, but I would be scared this year was just a flash of his old self.

Plus this is a canadian for a russian, and with Kovy running away I would not want to do this trade for one.

Throw in Lundqvist and make the offer.

In points-only, with only 8 teams, starting ONLY 1 goalie... you shouldn't overvalue goalies. The drop from Lundqvist (best goalie in fantasy) to the #8 goalie (since 8 teams) isn't incredible.

    Lundqvist/Zetterberg/Granlund.
    Try that.

I appreciate all the suggestions and comments. I reached out to the Stamkos owner to see if he would consider moving him so we'll see how he responds. I do understand that I need a certain amount of depth to take the title in this league so am wary of moving too much of it. Part of the reason I loaded the offer with prospects and picks is that the picks are often over-valued in our league. I honestly doubt H.Sedin would get me a 1st rounder for example as he is considered too old (and I wouldn't move him for a 1st either as I hold him at a higher value).

I fully expect Stamkos will not be attainable, but I would be foolish not to give it a shot.

How do you not have the title?! This might be one of the most stacked teams I have ever seen. I would love to see the champs line-up.
