    Default Jagr on his future

    https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v...type=2&theater

for those of you, who don't speak czech :

-he is apologizing for not comment earlier, but after the playoffs and especially that last match, he wasn't in the mood. about his future in the NHL, he sees things very "black". but he'll get back to that tomorrow.

knowing his sense of humour, it may actually not be a negative reference. Blackhawks? team with "black" in colours? somewhere he can wear sunglasses?

I guess we'll know more tomorrow... I'll keep you updated.

I think it means he's going back to black, as in he's going to grow out his old-school, super-cool mullet that was the envy of poodles the world over.

UPDATE -- Reader John Parsons Czechs, er, checks in: "My business partner (From the Czech) just emailed me the cliff notes version and it said the following: 'He said that he does not think he will play next year in the NHL, and tomorrow he will post an update and explain his decision.'"
    Take that as you will.

Jagr's great and all (to state the obvious) but he strikes me as a pay-cheque player, big time. His agent must have the easiest job "evaluating" offers - there's only one criteria - which has the biggest number. I'm thinking this is a result of the cap reducing, and nobody being willing to pay him $4 million plus this coming season.

But is there anything wrong with that? He has delivered since day one and was 50th in points last year.

Not that it matters or anything, but he definitely didn't say "I don't think I'll play in the NHL"... he said he "sees his future black" pointed to his sunglasses... at the end he told people to take care and look forward to his message tomorrow. He also named his video "I see it black" and placed a smiley to it...

I think he wants his fans to think it's all negative and then surprise them tomorrow... Oh Jag, you drama queen!

Nope. He's entitled to do what he wants, of course. Just speculating as to what is behind this. But I also like tomastop's theory that he also has a flair for the dramatic (and not just in the hair and sideburns department).

Jagr to the Canes! Today, hah it would be nice, a little forward depth? What a concept. Acourse, that would mean Canes would have to tryhard this season and who knows if thats in the sinister plans of J. R. Heh

It'd be great to see him in the league another year though. Respect either way.

Well, yesterday came and went with no follow up to Jagr's odd statement/video. The sun is still shining (in Vancouver at least), the birds are chirping - we survived!

i will be surprised if someone doesn't try to sign him for a year, though I think his goal is to try to win a cup so I doubt you'll see him going to FL or CBJ

I agree he wants to win a cup but I also like his strategy last year of having his cake (signing for the most money that was offered in Dallas) and eating it (being an attractive trade deadline option for a contender) - wouldn't be suprised if he follows that again.

Some czech media speculate he's close to signing with NJ Devils. But nothing's official and he didn't update his facebook fan page as he promised.

I'm not sure if last season was planned but if it was it was really kinda brilliant. Some struggling team gets to sign Jagr to boost sales, they're not near the cap so they can afford him and Jagr gets more dollars, then at the deadline they ship him to a contender who couldn't afford him all-year in exchange for a pick.

Seems like New Jersey would be a good fit for that and Lou might be smart enough to realize the potential.
