    Default Trading 1st Overall

I am in a bit of a jam since the Devils decided to trade for Schneider and let IK walk.... So I have first overall pick in a points only league.... I would keep this pick and than rebuild for a year or two but I don't have my first round pick for next year so I am thinking of delaying rebuild a year and possibly trading the pick

The is points only keep 12 plus 4 farm players

    I am receiving
Mikael Granlund, Kesler, Varlamov, 6th overall

    I give up
    1st overall, Schneider, Ellis, 3rd round pick 2014, 3rd round pick 2014

Now I think that there are 7 solid players in the draft this year. Druin, McKinnon, lindholm, jones, barkov, nichushkin, monahan.... So I defiantly be able to get one but I was looking back at the drafts since 2008 and the players that are close to a ppg other than first overall is quite appalling... Defiantly love to hear what ppl can help me with here

Trading Schneider for Varlamov is a huge downgrade, Kesler instead of McKinnon will make your team weaker, too (long term).

Granlund is a very good offensive prospect, but Ellis is a very promising defender, so even if you give Granlund an edge over Ellis this is still a terrible trade for you.

I would keep the first overall as well, NJ is not going to be as bad as people think so in the long run Schneider will be the one to keep. McKinnon is going to be a stud and get every opportunity in Colorado.

    Horrible, horrible, horrible deal.

If that was presented to me, I'd ignore it. I wouldn't even try to counter offer.

If you're going to rebuild, why put it off for another year? Keep the pick.

This deal wouldn't help you this year anyways. All it would do is insure whoever has your first rounder next year gets a higher pick.

Writer of the weekly Top 10 column.

Top 8 forwards, 5 dmen and 2 goalies count.

Defence: Hedman, Fox, Matheson, Thrun, Jiricek
Goalies: Kochetkov, Talbot, Vasilevskiy, Campbell, Schmid

If you are considering taking that deal you might as well give the pick away for free. It's that bad of an offer. If you want to trade it to delay rebuild fine, but go and get a superstar in a trade. You should be able to get most anyone you want other than the Crosbies, Stamkoses, etc
