Default 7th overall, Monahan or Lindholm?

Fate has smiled on me with my 7th pick. Which one would you choose and why?

    I have the same dilemma.
My first reaction was to take Monahan, but I'm scared that he will be rush in the NHL and that will limit his upside.
So I will probably take Lindholm.

I had the same decision, except at 6th overall. I took Sean Monahan.

I personally felt that Lindholm's upside was SLIGHTLY higher, but that Monahan would make an impact sooner. Also Calgary's lack of depth at centre Vs. Carolina's slew of forwards played a part as well.

I ended up taking Monahan. Nushuskin was taken at 4 and Jones and Domi went at 5 and 6. You guys all have a point with Monahan and I felt Lindholm was the better player but stuck playing behind two centers named Staal.

Given their situation down the middle, I was quite surprised that Carolina still decided to draft Lindholm instead of moving on draft day but you can't fault them for taking the BPA at that point.

That being said, Monahan was the right choice here. Better situation and opportunity long term I believe.

If Nichushkin was still available would you have taken him? (I have a 4th pick and am looking at Monahan too).

Simply put, yes. Nichushkin has monster upside, he's in a perfect situation in Dallas, and he's committed to North America (NHL). Select with confidence and enjoy the ride.

    Cheers.

I really like Nicushkin, but the Stars may be rushing him too if they play him this year. He has the size, but does he have the poise?

And if he doesn't make the big club, he's already said he's going back to the K, at least for now.

I'd still take him over Monahan or Lindholm, but the above factors are at least a little worrisome.
