    Default Yakupov vs First Overall

I own the first pick overall. Maybe I can trade it for Yakupov. Do you think I should do that?

Depends on your needs, the format of your league, the scoring categories, etc. As much as a great talent MacKinnon is, I think Yakupov has more upside. Pretty hard to go wrong with either player, but I'd make this move.

This is frequently noted on the forums, and I think applies in spades in this situation. With Yak or the 1st overall, you really do have a lot of different types of high-end players you're choosing from. Some might argue that the list could include four players (Yak, MacKinnon, Drouin or Barkov), but I'll keep it to the first three names listed since I've not thought of a reason yet that would lead me to consider taking Barkov over MacKinnon or Drouin in fantasy play.

But as I currently see it, this is what I'd likely do in your situation depending on league settings (assuming that the deal parameters are #1 straight up for Yakupov -- you can always add some things to one side or the other to make a deal more or less appetizing):

Full multi-cat (including things like hits, PIMs, SOGs, etc.) -- decline the trade and draft MacKinnon at first overall

Modified multi-cat (including SOGs, but not things like hits, FOWs and the like) -- I'd accept the trade and acquire Yakupov

Points only -- decline the trade and strongly consider taking Drouin fist overall.

So there's my two cents. Will be interested to hear others' views as well and what you end up deciding to do.

    Cheers.

You should be drafting Mackinnon and Mackinnon only. He is superior to all other options here. Barkov is second Yak third.

I was able to draft MacKinnon at 2nd overall in my multi-cat league (cats in signature) and it felt like Christmas -- and by Christmas I mean getting another kid's gift and laughing my way to the bank.

Points-only, I think I have to side with Drouin. MacKinnon is the choice here for multi-cat formats, while Yakupov would probably be the choice in a goal-heavy fantasy league.

    Hope this helps.

If I could grab Yakopov for the first, I think I would take it. Yakopov has shown people that he fits in the NHL and wants to prove that russians are not going to be taken lightly, he is in my eyes a proven prospect on a highly offensive team and in his situation you can not go wrong.

Mackinnon is the best prospect we have seen in a long time, but he is unproven at the NHL level and he might take a little while to adjust and Colorado is not as stacked as the Oilers.

If you want the best production in the next few years grab Yakopov, if you have time to wait and see what Mackinnon can do then take the risk.I would take Yakopov simply for the reason that his trade value should to be high next season and if you want to move him you have that option, Mackinnon will take some time to develop at a higher level and yakopov is already there.
