    Default Ribiero to FA

    http://www.russianmachineneverbreaks...s-a-smart-guy/

given how the Caps offense re-ignited this year I sorta expected he would snag a nice contract after such a big year but as someone who has never been a fan of Ribs I think the Caps are making the wise decision

Not sure what to make of this as a Ribeiro owner. He ripped it up last year.

It might be hard to expect PPG production from him somewhere else, but he'll undoubtedly produce at a decent clip, wherever he goes. He always does.

The Forsberg deal is perplexing to me.

When they made the deal, they essentially committed the money that they might have had for Ribeiro, to Erat. So, it was Forsberg & Ribeiro for Erat... and I for one don't like that move too much. Erat is younger and an excellent player, however, we all know a Band-Aid-Boy. Even if he is a better player than Ribeiro, I don't think there's a Forsberg worth of difference.
It did allow them a better team for a playoff run.

Additionally, it's never been a better time to have a bit of open cap space.

    My thoughts exactly.

Plus, the 2nd line center role was always one the caps had troubles with and Ribs gave them stability there. He is more durable than Erat as well, and usually centers are perceived to be slightly more valuable than wingers.

Erat might be a better two way player (? - I've heard Ribs isn't the most responsible defensively) but Forsberg+Ribs for Erat does not look good. Maybe WSH knew he wouldn't be back regardless though.

Back to DAL seems like a good fit but not banking on that happening by any means either.

Not enough cap space. I think they will promote from within (Perreault).

The rumours have been quiet on the Ribeiro front.

CLB, T-Bay, NJD, FLA make some sense to me but it's just guesses to me.

Sorry Ribeiro strikes me as a dog. Don't like him AT ALL. Good for the Caps - they identified him as a player who will become content after getting his monster deal. Let someone else overpay for him.

100% agree with Fung. I'll laugh when he signs a 3 yr, $20mil deal and puts up 50-60 points every season.

Ribiero is awful. One of the worst people in the NHL and not good for a young team at all. Cost the Caps many games with his bad reputation with the refs

So what I think you're getting at...is...that Ribiero is a good fit and should sign with the Leafs...

can't see that since the team has a huge emphasis on character + they don't need centres
