    LOL.
He does say "we" a few times.
But it is true what an "I" game that basketball has become.

I've never heard the phrase "on my shoulders" so much in any sport.
Basketball is definitely my least favourite of the four major NA sports.

It's not the difference between basketball and hockey.

It's the difference between Jonathan Towes and Lebron James.

Great to see people painting all players of each sport with the same brush.

Also need to take into account what question the reporter asked.

If they asked Lebron something like "what did YOU think of...." vs "what did your TEAM think off.....".

Switch Towes with someone like Radulov and Lebron with someone like Durant and it would be different as well.

Also, basketball is the 1 sport where a superstar can carry a team. In hockey it's very difficult to do.

I would agree that this shed's a poor light on basketball, even though I really don't enjoy the sport too much.. But it should shed a poor light on Lebron and not the entire league/sport..

But Lebron has won twice in a row now, so I guess he is allowed to say what he wants..

    Hockey is still better!! HAHA..

It is not inaccurate to generalize hockey as a "we" sport and basketball as a "me" sport. Anybody who disagrees is not very observant.

I do not believe that you can completely disregard the comments as being due to a single player. As you stated a basketball player can carry their team whereas it is much harder to do in hockey.

You are comparing 2 young stars who just "captained" their teams to victory. Whereas Toews is the poster child for a team perspective it is very telling that the I vs We tally was as black and white (no pun intended) as it was.

Basketball is an star focused, ego driven sport, for better or for worse. All I heard all NBA playoffs from every basketball expert was "Lebron James" this and that. The whole culture is about the individual so why would it not be reflected in the players themselves?

This was James' second victory, the stigma of "not winning the big one" or not preforming in the big game was gone. If he can not, this time around, find it in himself to even acknowledge the "we" in his sport, that is likely not going to change. I would go as far to say that I would expect his team mates, coaches and owners to step up and remind him that he is still a piece of the puzzle.

Honestly, I thought Lebron was damn good and definitely was the catalyst to victory and likely carried his team. It might be true that it was more about I than We in this case, but it would be nice if Lebron pretended it wasn't.

Maybe that is just the Canadian hockey player in me.

I am just going to assume that the picture is intentionally hyperbolic to prove a point, because Lebron uses the words we/we've twice in the first 45 seconds and talks about how great the team is and that he is thankful to be a part of a first class organization.

Granted he then proceeds to talk about how unstoppable he is after that...haha.

Honestly though, the NBA is driven by personality and star power so much more than hockey, and with that comes inflated egos and jackasses like Lebron. However I don't get the sense that NBA fans would want it any other way. The NBA is a product of the NBA culture that is created around it. It is what it is.

If Canadian hockey fans wanted more Sean Averys and less Sidney Crosbys (aka robot people) then the stars would morph into those types as a result. However, the idea of die on the ice, spit your teeth out, be all polite and work hard, is the image that NHL fans want for the most part, so their stars play the part since they are entertainers.

Lebron has every right to act selfish here. He could have won by himself.

Toews on the other hand needed to compliment his team given his performance this postseason.

    enough with the hockey elitism
