    I would actually feel bad for the Jackets if Bobrovsky were to split. The KHL is a pain in the ass.

    Not to diminish Mededev's shadiness, as he is coming off like a used car salesman here, but that rule has been available to all teams for a while now.

    I think each team can have two of those kinds of contracts. he's trying to build a league anyway he can. If the NHL doesn't want to ante up, the KHL wants to be able to swoop in. I dont like the deals, but it is a necessary means of doing business for them.

    I definitely would feel bad for the Jackets. Having said that, I would feel slightly better for me and my regrets at seeing Bob traded in the first place. I'm a petty, petty man.

    In a nutshell, it was basically like if Bettman was stepping all over Don Maloney's toes in Phoenix and then just after finding a firm buyer for the team, miraculously had them win the draft lottery and number one pick.

    Yup! And that's the guy Bettman learned from. Any amount of ludicrous you think Bettman has done, I assure you Stern has pulled off worse.

    That too. That was a pretty big story.

    Anyway back to Bobrovsky, damn. A $10M offer would be pretty damn tempting.

    Yeah, I honestly don't know how you could turn that down unless the Jackets offer like $8 million. And there's gotta be political pressure on him here too. If Bob wants to start for Russia in Sochi, he might have to take this deal.

    That is a lot of scratch. How can you turn down 10m tax free dollars?

    David Stern is a douche, he ****ed my Lakers out of the best pg in the NBA and 2 titles so far! They would have challenged the Heat both of the last 2 years with Paul in the back court....

    Don't feel like starting a new thread but I guess this fits in this thread. Here's some figures on how much KHL-teams spent on lockout players:

    CSKA Moscow paid a league-high $10.1 million for the likes of Detroit Red Wings center Pavel Datsyuk, Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov and Toronto Maple Leafs center Mikhail Grabovski
    Metallurg Magnitogorsk, which had the seventh-highest payroll excluding NHL players, paid $7.9 million to import then-Ottawa Senators defenseman Sergei Gonchar, Maple Leafs wing Nikolai Kulemin and Pittsburgh Penguins star Evgeni Malkin.
    Dynamo brought over Washington Capitals forwards Alexander Ovechkin and Nicklas Backstrom and former Maple Leafs forward Leo Komarov for a combined $7.4 million.
    SKA St. Petersburg forked over $7.3 million during the lockout
    In total, teams paid more than $46 million for locked-out NHL talent.

    From twitter, take it for what it's worth;

    “@Nichols_NHLPool: #CBJ GM Jarmo Kekalainen and RFA Sergei Bobrovsky's agent had 90 min convo Friday. Appears to be large gulf between sides. Via @Aportzline”
