Default Spezza worth 1st Rnd - 9th pick?

To land Tavares I needed to give up some good players. Now I have a void.

Spezza worth a first round (9th overall)?

Probably. Who would be available there? In a protect 6, it seems like you're looking at the 87th best player - and Spezz is better than the 87th best player in a points league for sure.

The bigger question is who you'd drop. Kronwall is a pretty good d-man to be letting go. Goligoski isn't bad either. How many Ds do you start? What's the ration of F/D?

With that ratio, D must be worth quite a bit. I'd be really leaning toward keeping Kronwall or Goligoski -- they are among the top 50 D for sure.

I think I'd keep the 9th pick and protect one of those two (Kronwall would be my choice). I'd consider dealing one of your forwards for a first round pick and protecting both if your league doesn't value D too highly. Or package two guys together to get another upgrade.

D can be a bit more fickle. Goligoski's points this year might shift with Gonchar in town (could get better; could get lower). But they are both surely worth protecting in your league methinks.
