    Default The Kings and Bernier

    As reported by Pierre Lebrun,

The Kings have reached out to 10 teams about trading for Bernier.

    Any opinions as to where?

Possibly to Calgary for one of their 1sts?

I'd figure Calgary would be a lock to take Fucale at 22 if he's still available so snagging Bernier for that pick would be a huge win for them IMO.

Oh baby, please trade him. He has been sitting on my farm since he was drafted - would be a dream come true to actually be able to use him. I don't care where he goes - just as long as he gets at least a 1a/b shot.

New Jersey would be intriguing. They need a plan for when Brodeur retires. I think buffalo, NYI, flyers and colorado are set, though flyers may be a viable option in the unlikely scenario that Bryz gets bought out. The other teams are fair game.

I'm going with New Jersey (although Marty may want to play until he's 45).

NJ, NYI, Calgary, Buffalo (if Miller moves) are most likely.

I think Bernier wants a situation where he has a decent shot at being the #1 now. I think NYI looks most appealing from his perspective.

Bernier's waited for what must seem like an eternity for a better situation. Getting stuck behind Marty, even for one year probably doesn't look that appealing.

I am also someone who's held onto him for years. I always assumed NJ would be a natural destination, but as noted by many, he could be an ideal asset to many teams. As a fantasy owner, I am rooting for th Islanders ( never thought I'd say that). Calgary probably has the most to offer (1st rounders), but I get the feeling he'll end up in the East somewhere.

    Fun fact:

    Bernier has fired his agent:

    http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2...red-his-agent/

And, as per RDS, has replaced him with Pat Brisson:

    Most intriguing destinations for Bernier:

    NYI
    PHX
    MIN
    TOR
    NJ

But I think he would go anywhere to be a starter.. Look what Bobrosky accomplished in Columbus!!

I think that list as pretty much spot on! I would put NYI and TOR as the favorites. Can't see him going to NJ as he has no intention of backing up Marty for a year or two. Nonis obviously does not have the faith in Reimer as Burke did, which was evident by him trying to get any goalie he did at the deadline. I think it comes down to those two teams. Each easily has the goods to get him.

but imagine bernier in phoenix with tippet getting extended as well? damn...this might be your last chance to ever get bernier for a decent price. overpay a bit now and reap the rewards later

i dont think he'd mind NJ. brodeur is old as **** and will not be playing 60+ games a season anymore. i'd say it would be more like 60/40 first season and then 50/50 or 1A/1B the next. bernier would get to learn from the greatest goalie of all time and be groomed into the starter's role. there's no pressure of playing like a #1 if he has brodeur on his team, it's best for his development imo.
