    Default Pittsburgh Speculation Thread

Listening to the game. Fitting that Rask gloves the last shot of the game by Iginla for a shut out and sweep. OUCH!

With that said there has to be MASSIVE change coming to the Pens. Interested in hearing who you think goes or SHOULD go. Is it time to blow it up? What say you?

Goaltending. Fleury probably is not the answer and Vokoun played great but he's old. Gotta make something happen in net.

I'm not too familiar with their cap situation but as long as Crosby, Malkin, Neal and Fleury are under contract and with the upcoming raise that Letang is going to get, it's clear that if the Pens want to keep that core, they'll have to live with an average supporting cast.

I don't think they need to blow it up. They're still an incredible team and will dominate in the regular season. They just need to find the right glue guys.

Never was a fan of Bylsma though and I think he may be the one to go. Never adjusted against the Bruins and always seems to be overmatched in the tactic aspect of coaching.

This off-season is going to be great to follow for hockey fans.

Saw somewhere online where some guy proposed a Malkin to LA trade with Kopitar + Bernier + Pick + Prospect. Thought that was interesting.

    Bye bye Bylsma!

We were clearly out coached and out played. Rask was a beast and the defense of Boston clearly had a system that worked against the Pens. Just a pathetic performance ...

There's absolutely no way LA gives that much for Malkin. Kopitar is a heck of a player as well and while he's not at Malkin's level, he's not so far behind that the Kings would have to add Bernier, a pick and a prospect.

I thought about a Malkin deal. I think the problem is that he plays so well with Neal, so that would be a concern for me. Things fell apart and everyone they brought in did absolutely nothing for them all playoffs. It's a short, weird season though. Do you risk blowing up a team with this much talent after a season like this one?

wouldn;t make sense for Pittsburgh to trade Malkin and get another #1 C in return IMO. that's the problem they have right now. but they do need to trade Malkin for sure. I think their core is Crosby and Letang. Neal is a complimentary piece.

Bylsma should be gone but probably has too much job security.

    other than that who knows.

Time for Iginla to kill himself. PIT needs an elite defensive forward to play the hard minutes and play the shut down role.

Bylsma may be out the door.

MAF is at the top of the player what to do list. He may get bought out.

Letang and Malkin will be going into their last year contractually.

Morrow and Iginla are FAs - both were brought in for grit but were too slow fora vertical game.

    Dupuis and Cooke are UFAs.

True, but Kopi is a helluva face off man. No, he's no Malkin. But consider Pit's goalie situation, Bernier being involved PLUS may cause a double take. Next year is a contract year for Malkin who is making 8.75M. Fleury is making 5M. Letang wants more $ , but didn't make it happen.

All I know is they gave up a fair bit to get Morrow and Iginla. That coupled with their multi-year playoff departures leads to some MAJOR changes, imo.

Sadly, Malkin and Crosby are in their primes, when they should be competing for cups, making cup appearances not having disappointing, fall short attempts.

They could use some grit like Ott and Hartnell. They definitely need to fill the hole left by Staal.

Since winning the Cup they were outed by Halak in round 2, the Lightning and Flyers in round 1, and now this embarrassment.

I know teams go through slumps and to have expected them to keep up putting in 4 goals a game like the first two rounds was unrealistic, but if anyone takes the fall it's going to be Bylsma.

They got to let Letang walk, he gives away the puck more than 10 times per game, sometimes upwards of 20. It's a joke that he's even considered for the Norris...

Iginla is terrible, time for him to retire, or just resign with the Flames, who would think that's a great idea.

Jokinen was the team's best player, and he sat out most of the playoffs.

The powerplay was a complete joke, and the Penguins just kept coming back with the same 5 players, who when they each touched the puck they figured they could deke around people while standing still. Terrible coaching, terrible effort, terrible result for Pens fans. Good thing I love the Bruins, ever since they beat the Canucks in the Finals, Go Bruins!
