You probably should know if Datsyuk is sticking around the league after this year before making a deal like this.

Coach Babcock has confirmed he is stayin in the Nhl, and an extension will be dealt with this offseason, either way i am gettin Letang who is probably top offensive Dman in the league or 2nd best behind Karlsson, i have enuff young guns that i think this bolsters my D, and gives me a solid forward through obtaining Letang

Yeah I like the deal for you in a points league for sure. In any given year it might be very close or weighs out the otherside but for the next few seasons I think you gain some on balance.

Byf has Enstrom vying for points but Letang is the man - Dats will always be on the 1st pp for the Wings - I suppose the Jets have a few options where Kane may or may not be.

Say what? Source on that? Because I haven't seen anything like that and I'm on them like a hawk.

This but then there is that. (scroll down to the Rumors about Datsyuk section)

Not so much of a confirmation of a fact by Babcock but more like his strong opinion on the matter.
I can't promise I'll try but I'll try to try.

That means nothing. Both ways. The point is that until his contract gets extended, if it happens, there WILL be doubt. There has just been too many question marks surrounding the whole issue. Obviously Babcock will say anything to keep the fans happy, but in reality he knows just as little as the rest of us. Dats has made several comments about playing in Russia and then there was that thing a few months back about how the closest people around him knew he intends to go back to Russia after his NHL contract is done. Obviously just a rumor, but still.

If I was dealing for Datsyuk, I would want a lower price based on the question marks surrounding his NHL future.

If you like to gamble a bit. You could always use this to your advantage and squeeze a pick out of him. If Dats does come back you make out like a bandit if not it eases the pain a little.
