Buff vs Piet
I have an odd offer from a rival gm, I am hoping all my stats are below. It is your basic scoring categories (G,A,PPPTS,SHPTS,GWG,PIMS,+/-) for forwards.
I was offered Buff + Derrick Pouliot for my Pietrangelo. Should I make this trade? My only concern is the lack of points St.Louis players get vs. the health of Buff as he always seems to get hurt.
You can keep 20 farm players, and my farm is not that great so pouliot would be an upgrade over some of the dmen I have (for the record I have Merrill, Sproul, and McNabb. I just added clendening and krug off of waivers so I can drop either, as we allow going over the max rosters for the offseason)

It's a fair offer and you could probably just flip a coin on personal preference. Both guys are 50pt defenders and will be somewhat close. Buff will be better with PIM and will have more hits (which you don't use). Piets will excel at sog & blks (which you don't use). It all comes down to the fact that Buff does get injured here and there and Piets might have a higher upside assuming STL ever starts scoring more goals as a team. The STL forwards share ice time and pts, the two defenders (Piets & Shatt) do not share so no need to worry about that. I suppose you can ask yourself, why the other guy is pursuing Piets from you to give you a better understanding of why he sent the offer. It's not a bad offer, but it doesn't blow me away either.

Buff > AP in multi-cat.
You don't have SOG... so it's a bit closer than in SOG leagues.
But Buff >> AP in PIM.
That means AP would have to outdo Buff slightly in several cats to even that out.
Even with points... I see Buff as a 50pt player.
I see AP as a 45pt player.
As a real-world NHL defenseman... I'd rather have Pietrangelo.
But this is fantasy hockey... and Buff is simply much better, my opinion.
Here's where I put on my greedy and ignorant caps. Can you use the Pietrangelo name power to suck more than Pouliot out of him. As in a better prospect? I'm behind this deal but if you can get someone other than Pouliot I'd be behind it more. I'm no prospect expert, I just don't see Pouliot making the jump to the NHL right away and then it might take a while to get him really producing. All told, you might be better off with a prospect who will graduate sooner.

I prefer the Buff side as well and am a fan of Pouliot but also agree with metaldude I think if that was his original offer he might be a little enamoured with Piet name and maybe you could upgrade the prospect. Give it a go and if he says no take the offer on the table
