    Default Del Zotto or Despres?

Who of those two has the higher upside? Whom would you rather own in a full keeper league? Obviously Del Zotto is further along in his development, but do you guys see despres catching up to him or surpassing him one day?

I would definitely go with Del Zotto here.

It's very possible, Despres is in a great situation in Pittsburg from a fantasy owners perspective - high power offense and opportunity. That said dmen are such fickle things to predict and you could be waiting in a 5 year Hedman-esque bog of when?.

I would take Del Zotto, he's a known quantity and firm producer now and in the future.

MDZ is the guy to go with because he has shown his scoring side already and while Despres could develop that quality he could just as likely turn into a two way defender like Coburn.

To me the rule of thumb is to go with the proven unless the potential grossly exceeds the level where proven player currently sits. I don't feel like that is the case here.

Thats a very easy choice, you got to take Del Zotto.

Although Despres has some offensive upside i really doubt he will ever top 40 points in his career. I think you can compare him to Vlasic, both have offensive upside, but both are to valuable in the defensive zone to be allowed to show it.

To be fair i think Depres will score a little bit more, but i wouldn´t expect more than 30 points in average.

Despres got Letang and Martin in front of him and Pouliot (offensive Dmen) seem to be really appreciate in Penguins world. He is not developed like a offensive mind Dmen, probably more a 2wayD in the future.

    MDZ for me.

Del Zotto. Letang, Martin, Pouliot, Maatta even for that matter. Despres is in the mix but is not at the top of the list offensively, short or long-term.

MDZ.. I love Despres and I think Despres will be the better hockey player, but that doesn't mean anything for fantasy hockey.

MDZ will be a fixture on the power play.
Despres will be lucky to get 2nd power play time, and if you watch Letang he is out there for at least 1:30 for each minor.

As so many others have already said as well.. Pouliot, Maata, Letang, Martin, and even Niskanen. Its going to be hard to imagine Despres beating out the majority of them.

I wouldn't give up MDZ for any prospect unless that prospect has a clear path and the talent to be a top end point getting defenseman.
Way to much risk involved for what would be a minor upgrade at best.

I would also vote for MDZ on this one.. Definitely less competition to be on the top pairing and on the top PP..

Michael Del Zotto, even though I think it's fairly clear that he is the consensus choice
