Guessing he'll be a regular next year.

How much does his emergence hurt Hamilton (short term)?

Probably doesn't hurt at all. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure both will be in the team's plans.

I imagine they will both be in the teams plans. Ference is a UFA at the end of the season so maybe they let him go and have Krug step in.

Ference is a UFA this summer, along with Redden.. So Krug 'could' be taking Ference's minutes as soon as next season..

Ference and Redden OUT.. Krug and Bartowski IN..

2013/14: Chara, Seidenberg, Boychuk, Hamilton, Mcquaid, Krug, and Bartowski potential top 7..

Ference will probably be resigned though for a 1 or 2 year deal and $2 million per..

They might have to let him go out of necessity. The contract extensions kick in this summer, the cap drops and Rask needs to be re-signed. Not to mention Horton is also a UFA.

Soooooo true.. These new deals all kick in next year..

    Lucic(goes up $1 million)
    Seguin(goes up #3.5 million)
    Marchand(goes up $1 million)

Ference, Redden, and Aaron Johnson's contracts free up almost $4 million.. Throw in Jagr and Pandolfo, and thats another $5.1 million..

    Khudobin is also a UFA..

What is going on with Marc Savard's contract? I see his contract is still on the cap hit at $4 million per year..??

Bruins D is set with the emergence of Krug and Bartkowski but I doubt they let Ference walk just yet. I also doubt he wants to go anywhere given the fact that he has gotten the spoked-B permanently inked on his skin.

He would definitely take a hometown disount and the Bruins would be more than willing to give him one. He is an excellent defensive player and agitator.

It would not surprise me one bit to see Bartkowski or Krug back in the minors for the beginning of the season. It's only a matter of time before they would get back in as injury replacements though.
    Without me, it's only "aweso".

OK so I just landed Krug and am pretty stoked about it, but am I jumping the gun here?

Obviously, I am not expecting his ppg to continue, but has his performance locked him a roster spot next year? If so, I'll take my chances to see how he performs. If another year in the AHL is more likely, I may have to move him (no room for prospects)

What do you expect from him in 2013-2014?

I don't think so. Krug fills a void on the Boston blue line and could very well be a #6 guy next year with #2 PP time....maybe jumping up to PP#1 later in the year.

I think you have to temper your expectations, though. 20-30 points would be a great rookie season.

Not knowing too much about Boston's system, how do he and Hamilton fit into the plans? Do they compliment each other as a 1-2 on the PP for example, or are they essentially competing for the same role?

They will flip-flop in their lineup position during the season. Both are young and will go through ups and downs. Long-term Hamilton wins that duel easily.
