Yeah... there could be a very interesting goalie carousel this year.
I think VAN's first round exit means that we will (FINALLY!) see Luongo get moved this year.

    Here's my (WAY-OUT-THERE) predictions:

PHI: Steve Mason + Tim Thomas.
*Philly fans are all too familar with Thomas & playoff match-ups with Boston. Republican Ed Snider needs a veteran presence in the locker room and a veteran goalie.

MIN: Mike Smith + Josh Harding.
*I've long speculated that Smith will be chasing his big NHL pay day this summer and looking for a team that has ski hills nearby for his former-pro-ski-bunny-wife. Minnesota is building long-term and needs to get a bit younger.

    PHX. Ilya Bryzgalov + Barbs.
Bryz goes back to Phoenix after PHI amnesties him.

CGY. Anton Khudobin + Joey MacDonald
Khudobin becomes this year's Lindback. The back-up that gets his coveted #1 job.

BOS. Tuukka Rask + Niklas Backstrom.
In a Tomas Vokoun-like move, Backstrom signs on with fellow Finn Rask to try and win a Stanley Cup.

NYI. Jaroslav Halak + Kevin Poulin.
The Blues free up some cap room by moving Halak to the Isles for some draft picks.

STL. Brian Elliott + Jake Allen.
    See above.

VAN. Cory Schneider + Eddie Lack.
Vancouver's first round exit means big changes. Luongo gets dealt.

EDM. Roberto Luongo + Devan Dubnyk
Edmonton amnesties Shawn Horcoff. That along with letting Ryan Whitney go frees up enough money to chase Luongo. The price is two RFAs, Sam Gagner & Magnus Paajarvi, along with a future 1st round pick.

    BUF. Miller + Enroth.
Can't find a buyer for Miller.

    LA. Quick + Bernier.
No market for Jon Bernier, he resigns for a year or two in LA, simply to bridge him to his UFA year.

    WAS. Holtby + Nabokov.
The Caps move Neuvirth to bring in a veteran back-up, after watching PIT win the cup with Tomas Vokoun.

    WPG. Pavelec + Neuvirth
Neuvy is traded to the Peg with his fellow Czech, Pavelec.

    I could get behind that

What about Karri Ramo in Calgary though?

I forgot about Emery, I think he definitely gets a gig somewhere, at least in a platoon if not a true shot at #1. He was crazy good this season. Buffalo maybe?

I think Emery stays in Chicago.
Ray Emery, Johnny Oduya, and Lenny Kravitz were all separated at birth.
You can't go tearing them apart now.

[Now, if only I had photoshop skills to post a picture of all three of these guys... then this post would be awesome. I haz no fotoshop skillz.]

Interesting thoughts, Pen. The goalie market is going to be crazy this summer.

It's a product of the dropping cap. It's going to be a crazy summer for a lot of players. Lots of unexpected movement to come.

    what about the NJ situation?

Brodeur and Hedberg are both ... what 38? Both on the last year of their contracts.
You would think NJ would want to invest in one of these younger, up and coming goalies (Bernier, Khudobin) to take over #1 when brodeur retires. Especially knowing Brodeur's injury history over the last 3 years. Being mentored by Brodeur and promises of taking over the #1 in NJ... not a bad deal.

I expect NJD to roll with Brodeur and Hedberg next year. Then Brodeur re-signs for one more year and they replace Hedberg with someone younger.

No ones mentioned Joacim Erikkson yet? I do believe he is a perfect candidate for a cheap 1B option!

Nihlstorp is on the market too and Dallas is one of the worst places he could be..
    Not THAT hairy, honest!

Eriksson - good prospect, but won't get a 1B gig right away. Too many more proven options available and goalies are a bitch to develop.

Nihlstorp - Dallas is actually pretty good for him considering Lehtonen gets hurt a lot and Bachman isn't an established NHL guy. The only thing better is if someone hands him an NHL job this summer which probably will not happen.

From what I have heard the Stars like Nilstorp a lot and will bring him back as the #2, letting Campbell start in the AHL for a few years (like Howard/Schneider/Crawford).

Does anyone think Bernier gets moved this summer? Seems like a lot of you guys think he will still be in LA for another year or two.

Does that mean Bachman is being let go?
