Very true. I think if Anderson stayed healthy; and with what Ottawa did this season with injuries.. He'd be a favourite..

But no biggie, he'll have the Conn! Hah

My hunch based on the word going around is Bob will win it.

Bob would make for a great story.

I was surprised Rask didn't get a nod given his numbers, although can't really disagree with any of those 3 seeing as how they played more games on shittier teams.

Rask, Niemi, and Bobrovsky would have been my three picks...my personal choice would be Bobrovsky, but I think Niemi wins it because Columbus didn't make the playoffs.

That said, if Bobrovsky becomes the first goalie on a non-playoff team to win the Vezina in over 20 years, I think that would be a great story for hockey in general and Columbus in particular, who can at least take that as consolation for not making the playoffs. Their fans definitely deserve something to celebrate.

the vezina and norris trophys seem to go to the veterans of the nominated players. if your the reigning champ you need to be unseated by a large margin for you to lose.
this is not the way i belive it should be , but it seems to me it is the way its done.
    anyways, go lundy.

When they almost make the playoffs playing for the Blow Jobs then yes. They can win a vezina, lol.

    I dunno though...

You guys remember when Mason got the BlueJackets INTO the playoffs? He had a pretty amazing strech going there for awhile. The difference was I guess, that he was a rookie.

But I think he was a sentimental 'favorite' that year and lost.

I wouldn't be too surprised to see the same thing happen here

How would you rank them going forward? Might deal one away.
I'd sell Niemi. No way is he gonna have seasons like this consistently. I might try to sell Bob too if you can get a good goalie in return in either league. Just because the BJ's are horrible. I think Bob is the better goalie with a better upside but I also think that Niemi is a decent goalie who can be inconsistent. They both play on teams that I don't think are that great. I think the Sharks are overrated and they might need to retool soon. Blue Jackets are horrible though. I would say Niemi is safer but I think that Bob will be a better goalie in the near future and he is also more likely to hit his upside and I don't think the margin between him and Niemi is that big anyway.

How about some anti-Vezina finalists? The "Toksala Trophy" candidates for the biggest let downs of the regular season could be:

    Bryz
    Halak
    Kipper
    Ward
    Lindback?

I wanted to exclude Ward because of the amount of time missed due to injury but I couldn't do it.

As somebody who drafted Bryz, Halak and Kipper in a few leagues this year.. I think they're worthy of all sharing the honours! Three-way tie..

    Kipper wins... by a landslide.
(I actually have a calculation for this which verifies Yahoo!s "rank" of him as the absolute worst goalie)

Apparently, the last non-playoff goalie to win the Vezina was Roy Worters in the 1930-31 season! Prior to the 81-82 season, the Vezina was presented to the goalie(s) on the team with the fewest goals allowed during the regular season.
