I'm not sure what is so impressive about him. He's effective as a two-way player but in fantasy he's not very relevant. Even this year he was on pace to get 40 points in 82 games.
Is this guy going to be a top six player for the Ducks or destined to be a 3rd liner?
He continues to impress, but what is his upside/chances in a pts only keeper?
Thanks

From today's ramblings:
"Andrew Cogliano doesn’t even resemble the soft, inconsistent, and speedy center that was in Edmonton a few years ago. He’s healthy, bigger, more confident, and so much better on the wing. He was the most noticeable forward in a game that featured Perry, Getzlaf, Datsyuk, and Zetterberg."
I'm hoping that with a year of confidence under his belt, perhaps he takes it to another level over a full season next year. Sounds like you're saying he won't be more than a 2 way guy, regardless?
Was hoping there was another gear, offensively. Guess we'll see.

He certainly could take the next step but I would caution against betting on it happening.

I think that game was probably more of a one-off than something you can expect to see consistently. That's certainly the way I'm treating it.

Don't think he has the offensive game to really take that next step. You never know with these guys, sometimes it all comes together and they throw together a nice 60-point season but from what I can tell Cogliano is a solid pro and a hard/smart worker but when he's dominant it's not necessarily going to be from a scoring standpoint but rather by playing keep-away from the opponent's best players. Definite third-liner.
I don't think Cogliano will ever put up big numbers - he might get spotted a bit of time on the 2nd line, but the Ducks are going to be looking to bring Holland and Etem into that role.
