Default What is the top 5 for your fantasy team

yeah, I posted this in the prospect forum as well, but there isn't as much traffic there...

Everyone can see what the scouts are doing, and the value to an NHL team is different than the value to your fantasy team. I know that this is tough due to the categories being arbitrary.

Lets use a roto league with G, A, PPP, +/-, PIMs, Hits

What are the real top five for a fantasy team?
    REDRUM
    -roto - 10 team - keep 20 of 24 - G, A, PTS, +/-, PIM, PPG, PPA, W, SV, SV%

C - Nathan MacKinnon, Aleksander Barkov, Nick Bjugstad, Jonathon Huberdeau
LW - Evander Kane, Jaden Schwartz, Brayden Schenn, Chris Kreider, Jonathon Drouin, Sven Baertchi
RW - Kyle Okposo, Valeri Nichushkin, Gustav Nyquist, Chris Stewart
D - Oliver Ekman Larsson, Dougie Hamilton, Viktor Hedman, Kevin Shattenkirk, Erik Johnson

    My top 5
    Jones
    Drouin
    Mackinnon
    Barkov should come in 4th
    Nichushkin in 5

But with your stats I think Domi and Nurse are great to come in 6 and 7 ..

Thats fine. But I think that defenceman are so much tougher to pick so high in fantasy hockey. I would definately take MacKinnon and Drouin before Seth Jones for my fantasy team.... After that, I am not sure which way I go...

    Drouin
    MacKinnon
    Nichuskin
    Barkov
    Shinkaruk

I think it's easier to transition to the NHL as a winger than a Center. If you project MacKinnon going to the Panthers, that puts Drouin in Tampa. He's gonna play top 6, and will be ahead of all those other young guys, so with Stamkos or Lecavelier. We've already seen what Conacher did there. Which puts Barkov to Nashville which seriously hurts his value (almost put him below Shinkaruk), and Nichuskin to Carolina. Meaning he will play with two of Semin, E. Staal, J. Staal, Skinner. Again like that situation. Shinkaruk is kind've a wildcard, but he is super skilled and I think he could be similar to Skinner's rookie year if he makes whatever team he is drafted to. Long term though I would still put MacKinnon higher than Drouin, my ranking above is just impact next year.

Obviously if Barkov gets drafted by someone other than Nashville this year I like him a lot more, I'm just projecting based on draft spot/need/fit. I think Florida likes MacKinnon-Huberdeau better than Barkov-Huberdeau, and Tampa is pretty set at C but need to start planning for St. Louis' departure.

Seeing as I am just noticing your same post in a different section, I will paste my same reply here:

This is how I would be drafting if I was on the clock right now:

    1. MacKinnon
    2. Drouin
    3. Jones
    4. Barkov
    5. Monohan

This order could change depending on how the actual NHL draft goes and who ends up going where...
10 Team, Points Only, Cash League

25 Man Roster (no position), top 20 point getters count at end of month
Keep 20/25 at seasons end, Cut 5 to FA for redrafting
    Goalie points W=2pt L=-1pt SHO=2pt

Stamkos, Tavares, Eichel, Mercer, JRobertson, RThomas, Kucherov, Nugent-Hopkins, Tuch, KConnor, Necas, Point, Konecny, SJarvis, Cozenz, Morrissey, Bouchard, Josi, Novak, Tolvanen, Peterka, Brink

    G- Vasilevskiy, Sorokin, Oettinger
