    Default Dumba or Trouba keeper?

    Points + PIM + plusminus.

Which one has highest ceiling / most likely to become a scoring stud?

    Thanks

Those guys seem to be the same path of developpement, (physical and stastical)
Pretty hard for me to tell who will be the studs over the other !!!

Dumba 7th and Trouba 9th in Dobber D prospect ... at this time I would say it's a flip coin !

I would know, if some prospect knowledge pooler have some advice on this one !?

Personally, I prefer Trouba. I think his size will be helpful. It says here that he's only slightly bigger than Dumba, but I think when you see them, there's a difference in presence that Trouba has and Dumba just doesn't seem to carry. Dumba won't be as effective in his style as Trouba will be.

I'd take Trouba because he will play in the NHL sooner than Dumba. I think he is more NHL ready.

Probably the only reason why I would take him over Dumba ...

I love both of these guys. I'll break it down like this:

Trouba is more of a sure thing and will be a solid, top-4 (maybe top-pairing) defenseman within the next 2-3 years. He has the size, tools, skills, leadership and physical edge to be a hybrid of Ryan Suter and Jack Johnson. At his peak I see Trouba being a huge minute muncher who puts up about 10-14 goals and another 32-38 assists per year (42-52 points). His +/- will hinge on the team around him and he will log a ton of time (avg. 23-26 a game IMO). He is physical and rugged but not a killer so his PIM will be decent.

Dumba is very intriguing. He has wicked offensive skills and a good shot but he is not as big as Trouba (6-0 vs. 6-3) and both still growing. Dumba has more cowboy to his game and is reckless while Trouba is more steady and reliable. This gamblers mentality could payoff offensively or it could find Dumba on the wrong side of his coaching staff - that remains to be seen. Dumba is more sizzle than Trouba and compares to the likes of PK Subban and Dion Phaneuf. He is also more boom or bust prospect, although his boom isn't much more than Trouba's to begin with.

Both have competition (Trouba behind Enstrom, Byfuglien, Bogosian and Dumba behind Suter, Spurgeon, Brodin). Trouba is closer to the dance and is the more dependable player overall. Dumba has a slightly higher offensive ceiling. A case could be made for either player but advising you, I would go with Trouba.

It's a very good question, but I lean towards Dumba.

He has less competition in front of him (Suter and Brodin are it, while Trouba is behind Enstrom, Byfug and Bogosian), has a higher points upside then Trouba, and is just as safe in my opinion. I think both will be minute crunching time, and Trouba will probably make the NHL a little sooner, but Dumba might make it out of camp next year.

I lean towards Trouba, I wanted the Leafs to pick him up at 5 as I had him as the #5 prospect in the draft

Not on my side. His offense is underrated. But your opinion is as good as mine.

I'd probably take Dumba, but you really can't go wrong with either IMO.

Personally I would take Trouba over Dumba.. Did you see Trouba dominate at the world juniors this year?? He reminds me of Weber.. He is going to be a stud..

Dumba is a long ways away from the NHL..

He was incredible. Actually, he reminded me a little of Jack Johnson and Ryan Suter when they were young and playing for the Americans. Steady and rock solid like Suter with Johnson's shot and offensive contributions.

World Junior play has little to no bearing on NHL future. Massively overrated tournament.
