Default Too much love for Dupuis?

In a keep 8 roto league were we count G,A,PPP,±,SOG,Hits,W,S%,GAA,So, i'm realy considering keeping Dupuis. This will come at the expense of a guy like Ryan. My fantasy mind tell me to keep Ryan all the way, but when I look at number, Dupuis is the guy. As it stand now (and I have a great team fighting for first) in my squad, Dupuis is first in G and ±, second in SOG and 4 in Hits.
So basicaly wath I'm asking you guys here is wether I should keep Dupuis and try to trade the sexier name in Ryan to get an upgrade in net (if I dont win this year, it will be because of my goaltending). Any comments appreciated.

Just to give you more info, here are my other keeper: Backstrom (Was), Kovalchuk, Brown, Weber, Subban, Bryz"fuking"galov, Halak and one of the 2 talked above.

There is no way in hell I'd keep Dupuis over Ryan in a keep 8 format. Or any format for that matter.

Even just by looking last years and this years numbers, Ryan is pretty much equal to Dupuis. Depends how much weight you put on PPP which Dupuis won't give you any. And Ryan has much better pedigree and much higher upside.

    It's not a bad idea.
I think one of the better tactics in keeper leagues is to consider trading away your middl-ish keepers.

Everybody is always looking at their keepers, say 8 players, and trying to trade away their 8th or 9th guy for an upgrade.

That rarely works because nobody wants your 8th or 9th player.
But if you have a great 9th player... you may be able to trade your 5th guy for a nice upgrade.

Consider giving some scores to your keepers:
    Keeper1: 90
    Keeper2: 85
    Keeper3: 80
    Keeper4: 75
    Keeper5: 70
    Keeper6: 68
    Keeper7: 66
    Keeper8: 65
    Keeper9: 64

There's only a 6pt drop from Keeper 5 (Ryan?) to Keeper 9 (Dupuis?).
So if you can upgrade Keeper 3 (80pts) to a 85+pt player... it very well might be worth it.

Keeper leagues are about constantly upgrade your top tier/half of keepers because your bottom 3-4 keepers will drop off and exchange every year.
And... while I like Bobby Ryan over Dupuis... Ryan is just that in a keep-8... a BOTTOM HALF keeper.

Your line of thinking is correct here.
See what you can get for Bobby Ryan... it may be enough to justify keeping Dupuis.
And if Dupuis isn't a long-term keeper, you just find a new #8 keeper next year... no biggie.

Don't think you can count on Dupuis to be a 55-60-point player going forward. Looking at his history and age, it is more likely than not that he regresses.
I can't promise I'll try but I'll try to try.

Even with fewer points Dupuis is still an awesome roto player. In a keep 8 though it's a tough sell because he is a declining asset moving forward. He will still be productive but it will be a bit less every year.

You can't keep Dupuis over Ryan. That would be a long term mistake. However you really should consider Pengwin's advice. I think that is a solid plan yo upgrade your G. You should be able to find a Dupuis replacement through the draft next year for your 2014 keepers.

Sounds like you'll have to given your goaltending situation anyway. You need to use one of those solid forwards to upgrade in net.

TY all realy appreciate it. I will surely look at it this summer. If I can land a top tier goalie I'll surely trade away Ryan and Bryz for it. Goalie have buried me too much this year, I have to do something.
