I really can't see the Islanders moving Streit. They are on the cusp of being a playoff team after a lengthy rebuild, they need his leadership. It would make no sense to me.

I could see reasoning in moving Streit since he's a UFA but I'd still hold onto him. Nielsen should not be traded though. He's going to be the perfect 3rd liner once Strome takes over line 2.

Well they've gotta get to the cap floor or are they planning on paying more people to NOT play hockey for them to do that?
In all seriousness though Streit is their captain and they are in the midst of a playoff race. I think they have to roll the dice even if they don't get an extension for Streit but I get the logic behind selling if they can't.
As a Hawks fan, I would be ecstatic to get Streit and Nielsen for Olsen and Morin.

Yeah, from an Islanders perspective, this is horrible. There would have to be something more coming back, not just two decent young players. Although, if you figure that Iginla got traded for two merely good college players and a late first-rounder... that return for Streit and Nielsen actually makes sense! The bigger question is, is Snow as big of an idiot as Feaster? Should we start a poll?
