Make the players wear full face protection already. If I'm the owner I'm wondering why a 9 million dollar player (that's over 100 K per game!) loses time because of an injury that could have been prevented by a $30 piece of plastic. The macho culture is ridiculous. Football players protect their faces, and we don't think they're sissies.

I don't know if its necessarily a macho thing as it is what they've grown comfortable with playing as a kid.
I'm no hockey pro, I've only played rec league here and there, but if I were paid millions of dollars a year and was under the pressure that these guys are under to live up to these expectations, I would want every edge I can get, and personally I'd find wearing a full visor pretty annoying. That's just me at least.
Pucks to the mouth don't usually concuss people. As morbid as this sounds, the fact that he lost a bunch of teeth is a good thing; it means that his teeth took the brunt of the impact, not his brain. Pucks are relatively small, and although they can do a lot of damage when moving quickly, the damage is usually very localized. Although pucks can do tremendous damage to flesh and bone and teeth with direct contact, it usually doesn't force the head to go through the jarring and whipping motion that is normally associated with concussions.
With an injury like this, I would be more concerned about concussion from hitting the ice after he fell rather than the initial puck contact. It looked like his head didn't hit the ice as he fell. I would bet that although it isn't pretty, concussion isn't a concern.
