    Default E. Kane vs Parise

    I get Evander Kane
    I give Parise

    It's a multi-cat keeper league, counting G, A, +/-, SHP, Shots, Hits.

Do you think Kane can rival Parise next year for points? His contribution in Hits are incredible. What side do you prefer?

    I prefer Parise.
I see Parise as an 80pt player, +15, low Hits.
    I see E.Kane as a 65pt player, +0, high Hits.

It depends a bit on how many forwards you "start".
If you only start 6F, you need to get some Hits built into your scorers, so I like E.Kane in a "start 6F".
In a start 9F, you may just be able to grab a dedicated HITS guy like Matt Martin or Clutterbuck to stock those categories.

E.Kane is a great multi-cat player, but some of that value is built into PIM too.
Without PIM, E.Kane is worth a little less and Parise's value is a little better.

Yeah, this is why I'm having trouble deciding. We start 6F. Argh..

    I prefer Kane.

I feel Parise will get more assists and have a better plus/minus, but Kane will likely score more goals, have more shots (but they are both high shooters), and definitely have way more HITs.

I'd be willing to sacrifice 5-8 pts per year and acquire Kane for the hits. So, if Kane can come within 8 pts of Parise next year in points - which I think is likely - I should act on a trade like this.

    hmmm...5-8 pts isn't a large margin...

I think Kane is good for 35 goals next year (I see him increasing his goal total a bit), and I think Parise might end up with marginally fewer goals than Kane. This is a hunch, however, because they are both primarily shooters/goal scorers.

It all comes down to assists. I think Parise could quite easily have 45-50 assists to go along with his 30ish goals. Kane, on the other hand, isn't likely to put up that many assists. I see more like 35-40 assists for him. Is the difference of 10-15 assists the same as the difference in HITs? I can't rightly say for sure.

I think seadawg is about right here. I guess it depends on what you feel you need more of. also, I know this may seem obvious but if kane gets some decent line mates he gets my vote. He's been playing with a bunch of icecubes all season.

I think Parise will out perform E.Kane next year, given your cats. Over time, though, I think Kane can and will be the better performer for you. He is a markedly better player this season over last, and I expect that trend to continue for a few years yet. He'll always be a shoot first player, but he's learning to use his linemates, and he's finding new ways to break into the offensive zone and find room for himself.

As GMantooth says, when Kane gets some decent linemates, look out.

In a start 6F, I'd go with Evander Kane.
You have to get the HITS built-in to your forwards.

There... hope that makes it easier for you.

4 pts for Kane so far tonight...that's an indication of what he is capable of doing

Sigh, don't remind me. It has raised his value even higher in the owner's eyes. Now it's looking like the offer will be:

    Kane & Parenteau

    for

    Nash & Perry

    I'd pass on that offer.

I think I value Nash a bit less than Parise, but I don't have time to consider his value with your cats, so I might be undervaluing him a bit in your league.

In your league with your cats, Perry is a stud and I'm not giving him up.

I don't mind Parenteau; he is a fine player, but not worth giving up Perry.

That's nonsense. I'd pass on it. Maybe he's just testing the waters, thinking you're salivating after a 4 point game. Hopefully he accepts the previous offer.

Can can generate enough offense close enough to Parise to where the hits, etc put him over the top vs Parise. I like Kane here.

The problem is in a league like ours where we start 6F, having a player that can contribute in hits as well is immense (E. Kane). I understand the view on Perry, as I concur, but I'm wondering if people perhaps over-value him a bit in a league with categories such as ours? Per game, he is near the bottom of my team for shots, and doesn't contribute much in the hit department either. While I don't run it by him to surpass the 82 point mark next year, I wouldn't mind giving up ~10 points for Parenteau if it means acquiring the hits and future potential of Kane.
