I think he'll stay in Calgary. I know they are tied for last in their conference by they are only 7 points behind the Stars who are in 8th and they have played the fewest games in the NHL. I could certainly see Calgary pulling together just enough wins to finish around 17th-20th in the NHL.

I think Anaheim makes the most sense in the West. In the East, I think the Rangers would be the most likely bet.

Iginla has submitted a list of four teams he'd OK a trade to:

    LA, Chicago, Boston, and Pitt

All those teams make sense. Disappointed but not surprised the Canucks aren't on the list. LA could trade Bernier and a player for him, and the Flames could then move Kipper and do a propper rebuild.

As a Flames fan I would love to see that kind of return for Iginla but I can't see LA giving that much. We have such nincompoops running the show these days that it makes me sick thinking that Feaster will be the one to make the deal.

I really don't see a goalie getting sent back to Calgary unless it's a deal that moves Kipper out. Teams just don't like to mess with their goaltending mid-season unless they have to. If you look at the past mid-season deals that have involved goalies almost all of them are third goaltenders like Ben Bishop when he was dealt from St. Louis.

So the Kings aren't going to move Bernier mid-season for a rental like Iginla because then there is no backup if Quick goes down. You can't invest a young asset like Bernier and such a premium position for a rental like Iginla even if he could push you over the top because there's too much downside if something goes awry with Quick.

I think Iggy goes to either Pittsburgh or Boston. Just seems to me more likely that the Flames would look to trade Iginla out of the Conference.

Agree. The Kings will likely keep Bernier at least through the playoffs to give them insurance in goal. If the Flames are going to get a goaltender I hope that they think strategically as moving both Kiprusoff and Iginla = major rebuild.

Iginla is the perfect rental for a contender, plus they could re-sign him as he has plenty of hockey left in him. Makes me hopeful that if Dallas got J. Morrow for B. Morrow then what is Iginla worth?
