I don't know. I don't trust the doctors in pro sports though. There's a huge financial incentive to get the athlete back in the business as soon as possible.

Of course I want Ottawa to win and I believe that anything can happen in the playoffs (especially with a hot goalie), but the odds of them beating Boston or Pittsburgh are slim....so if there is any chance that Karlsson's tendon is not 100%, I'd rather they sit him out until next season.

But again....I'm not a medical professional.
I'm no doctor either haha, just speculating. But I just don't see how he won't be ready to go in a month after seeing him skate today. If he is skating hard like he did today, I assume the tendon is fully healed (or else they wouldn't let him skate). Just needs conditioning now.

Well if there's no risk then I'd love to see him back. Hell, if they end up playing Pittsburgh in the playoffs I may have to fly down and see a game.

    I repeat.

Game action is totally different too.

Yeah I think I remember Bieksa talking about his injury and said even while playing games afterwards it still felt a little odd.. Just because he looks like game shape, he may not feel like it..

I'd still prefer to let the kids have a good chunk of playoff experience and let Karl work towards training camp

    This is the scary thing.
On the otherhand you have the example of Derek Rose. Rose has been recovering from a torn ACL and was cleared by doctors a while ago, but he has continued to decide not to return to the court. Not to mention the mental aspect of returning.
While some say hes milking it(Heck he dunking putting all his weight on the Knee) I say hes playing safe.
Most can remember Penny Hardaway and the danger of rushing back.

Well...amazingly enough, I met Karlsson at the Wednesday practice round at the Masters today. Must've been the only person to recognize him...but he was super nice and chatted for a bit. I asked if he'd be back and he said " no, I don't think so...that's why I am here!"

nhl.com has Karlsson "cleared for contact". That sounds like an amazing recovery all round. Unless I'm missing something, they're only waiting for him to get back into game shape.

How is it even possible that he's 100%? And cleared for contact in the NHL - practice so far only, I know, but still that's a high level of exertion on a severed tendon.

2 months...wow, the guy must have mutated healing genes or something. What's next, blades coming out the back of his hands?

Quite an accelerated recovery, but I guess having a laceration, rather than a degenerated tendon rupturing, made the recovery faster. or he is actually wolverine.

Here's some more video from today's practice..

The talk last night on CBC pregame was they wouldn't be surprised if he played this week, possibly as soon as their next game.

    Incredible.

If he's almost ready tomorrow, it might be beneficial to just play him since Pittsburg's line-up would be fairly weak and unmotivated.

It also sounds like Cooke is not going to play, so maybe even safer.

It's going to ber a very interesting week in the NHL.
