Shultz. I see Phaneuf as more of a multi-cat guy and Schultz as more high-octane offense. He's been in a bit of a lull lately, but I think he'll be fine and the much better points only option long term.
Points only keeper, long-term...
Who do you prefer going forward?
Cheers!
Shultz. I see Phaneuf as more of a multi-cat guy and Schultz as more high-octane offense. He's been in a bit of a lull lately, but I think he'll be fine and the much better points only option long term.

Schultz all the way....and I own Phaneuf.
generally i am of the opinion that there are a shit load of overhyped young defensemen in the league
i mean if i had a dime for every next great defenseman out there Taggart wouldnt need to send someone to get a shit load of dimes
that being said he is on about a 45 point pace on a team that is performing a bit below expectation offensively
so yeah you have to go schultz
They're both producing at the same level now and Schultz is a rookie. Schultz is on a different level when it comes to D prospects. I would take him over Phaneuf in this kind of league.

Hockey Pools? Too many to mention. Points only, salary cap and dynasty.
Schultz over Phaderp
Phaderp is relied on to do too much on the Leafs.
Also, not impressed with how he went red hot to start the season last year with 11 points in his first 11 games and still failed to crack 50 points.
Schultz easily in a points-only. They're the same in terms of points right now, but Schultz is in a much better situation in Edmonton.

12-team Keeper pool, straight points for forwards & dmen. Goalies get: 2 points per win, 3 per shutout, 1 point per assist & 1 point per shootout loss.
League champ in 2013, 2015, 2018, 2020 and 2022.
Top 8 forwards, 5 dmen and 2 goalies count.
We keep 15 players (any position) plus two rookies.
Forwards: Panarin, Ovechkin, Kopitar, Stamkos, Tuch, Rust, Marchessault, Pavelski, Miller, Bertuzzi, Stone, Kakko, Brown, Stankoven, Kovalenko
Defence: Hedman, Fox, Matheson, Thrun, Jiricek

So the concensus says Schultz.
Thanks for the feedback.
I guess I've been hoping for the past couple of seasons that Phaneuf would turn into a consistent 50-point defenceman. I think he has the tools, but I also agree that his plate is rather full in Toronto with having to perform a few different roles.
Thanks again!
