It looked like he wrenched it pretty bad on the replay - wouldn't surprise me if its 4-6 weeks at least.

Looks like he finishes with a 1 goal season.

Word on the street is bad high ankle sparin.

I wouldn't expect him back until playoffs (or just after Canucks fail to qualify).

Even if he's back early, he's been awful. He was creating some chances the few games before his injury, but seriously....1 goal into an empty net.

David Booth to have surgery. There's maybe a chance he can play again this year in the playoffs.

So.... if he's done for the regular season, and doesn't make it back into the lineup while (and if) the Canucks are in the playoffs, does that mean the Canucks can't buy him out with one of their 2 compliance buy-outs this summer?

Sounds like it would definitely be an issue:

Better ex. is Glen Murray who challenged buyout by the Bruins in 2008, he argued he hadn't recovered yet from- wait for it- ankle surgery!

Chris Drury blocked a buy out by Rangers, and if Booth says he still feels pain, buying him out could prove difficult.

If its surgery for a true high ankle sprain, normally you put a screw(s) in between the tibia and fibula and wait 3 months to take it out. If you don't take it out, likely will break as normally some movement between the bones, and it fatigues, which may cause problems. (saw a case last week where it was left in by other surgeons, the screw broke in 2 places so could only get the head portion out).

Now they may decide to use something called a "tightrope" where it's basically strong sutures holding the bones togrther instead of a screw, so you don't need to take it out. But that's still AT LEAST 8 weeks recovery (pushing it a bit because normally 12 weeks)
