Overcrowded crease

Currently stuck with 4 rostered goalies: Miller, Lindback, Fasth, and Kipper (still on IR).

The longer I have Kipper on my IR slot, the longer I won't be able to make any add/drops. I've been trying to trade a goalie away but no such luck so far.

Most recent offer to get denied was Miller for Quick straight-up. The guy says "Buffalo is too shaky to trust Miller," (despite his sv% being nearly 20% better at this point ) His other goalies are Smith and Backstrom, so he could afford to move Quick but guess he doesn't want to give him up too easily.


He told me he needs C help and would move a LW. He's got Moulson, Ladd, Hartnell, and Marchand (C)

Do I try to make a harder push to get Quick? Do I target another GM? Do I outright drop a goalie (Lindback?)

I need goalie help too, so I'm going to have to give from another part of my team to get it, I just don't want to give up too much.

also rolling your eyes about the other guy not wanting miller over quick seems rather odd from someone who doesnt want miller over quick

Just to give you an idea of some more of my considerations, I'm also contemplating:

Trying to sell Fasth to the Hiller owner for a D-upgrade (but may hurt my G more)

OR

Trying to BUY Hiller (and would obviously need to dump my goalies elsewhere) to secure ANA handcuff

Yes it is, but I feel having the upgrade in Quick would enable me to rely less on all of my other goalies (making it much easier to drop one or trade one for another need).

The eye-roll was meant for Miller in a "go-figure" sort-of-way, but I can see how you read it..

in a 12 team league a goalie is going to cost you if you want to improve your lot

you say you dont want to give up too much but then you arent going to get anything worth while to be honest with you

I completely get that you need to give to get. Just wondering WHAT I could give, either to this guy or look elsewhere.

I've made an offer weeks back of Miller/Getzlaf for Quick/Hartnell (right before Hartnell came off IR) but he declined (didn't want to give up on his top-two picks 'so soon'). Is Getzlaf/Miller for Quick too much? If not, is another Goalie better to target for that kind of price (Rinne, Lundy, Price, etc)?

Any suggestions what I could offer to make a move for Hiller? Owner's currently 20 pts out of the playoffs, so he's in desperation mode.

His roster:
C: Backstrom, Toews, J Staal (LW)
LW: Sedin, Perron
RW: Clarkson, Hossa, Yakupov, Tarasenko (IR)
D: Pietrangelo, Markov, Bouwmeester, J Johnson
G: Howard, Bobrovsky, Nabokov, Hiller

Any ideas of a good 2-for-1 or 3-for-2 to lob his way? Or a 2-for-2 where I drop the guy coming back to me for a FA?

I'm thinking maybe Miller/Wheeler for Hiller? Kind of setting myself on favorable playoff schedules now and ANA looks like their goalies will have a great one.

I don't understand the logic at all of trading a goalie and a forward for a goalie when you already said you feel overcrowded at goalie. I think lucifer has been right on the money the whole way in this thread as, quite frankly, this hasn't made two bits of sense.

Are you having no luck so far because your demands are way too high?

If this is a one-year league I'd just drop Faulk and roll 3 defensemen for the time being until a trade opens up.

My goaltending has killed me all year long (with the exception of Fasth), so while I have an abundance of goalies, I'm bottom of the barrel in all the stats and losing them all consistently each week.

I've been trying to secure a #1 goalie upgrade for a while now, but haven't had any luck despite some generous offers on my part. People in my league are hesitant to trade, and goalies are at premium this year considering all of the rough starts/injuries.

If I had any completely trustworthy goalies on my squad, I wouldn't be so hesitant to drop one (ie Lindback, Kipper). But I'm basically stuck with a bunch of low #2s or #3s. Seeing as how I haven't had any luck scoring an elite one, I see a good option as handcuffing the Anaheim tandem and then rolling with another goalie to act as my #2.

Is it just too impossible a task for me to try and sort my problems out here in one move? Clear a roster spot AND upgrade my net?
