How bad do you need another goalie?

I am hesitant with Holtby but i think hes been holding up these past few weeks for the caps.

Hiller is still splitting time with Fasth but the Ducks have been winning even tho Hiller isn't putting up phenomenal numbers.

If you really want Hiller, i would swap him for Holtby. But at the end of the day its six in one hand and half a dozen in the other.

I agree with the above. Solid post, Holtby and Fasth seem about even right now.

I think Hiller is slowing regaining his starting job. He's started 3 of the last 4 games and he's playing much better. He won't start 80% of the games but 65% is not unreasonable. I'd take him over Holtby, who is still somewhat of a wildcard now.
I can't promise I'll try but I'll try to try.

Holtby > Hiller for sure in my opinion, especially since it seems like Washington is starting to play a little better.

Hiller isn't reclaiming the starting job - yes he had a SO last week, but so did Fasth. From the games patterns it seems as though Boudreau is literally splitting 50/50, regardless of single-game performance (both Hiller and Fasth have been given starts after abysmal showings).

Given the fact that Fasth got a 2-year extension I doubt Hiller is the starting goalie. My guess is 50/50 split.

If I were you, going out on a limb here, if Fasth were still available I'd pick up both and drop Holtby and try and deal Miller.

Buffalo isn't impressing anyone this year and Miller will suffer with his team, but someone will take him off your hands. I'd rather have the handcuff in ANA with their results then a Holtby/Miller who knows what the outcome would be type scenario.

In my opinion, Hiller is a huge buy-low right now.

For one, he is a notorious slow starter, and judging by his performance the last 3 or 4 games he's starting to really come around, which could foreshadow one of his dominant stretches. I wrote up a long post on that in another thread, on how Hiller always tends to play really great down the stretch. He was very sharp last night when the Ducks needed him to be.

Second, I doubt that Anaheim keeps both Fasth and Hiller after this year, with Fasth's extension one of them probably is traded in the off-season. If it is Hiller traded, you can bet a team won't be trading for him at his salary to be sitting on the bench. If it is Fasth traded, Hiller stays no 1 on a very solid squad going forward.

I could see Hiller going to Minnesota for a stretch until Hacket and Kuemper are ready for the big show. Could also see Jersey trading for him, maybe even before the trading deadline given their current troubles and Brodeur's back issues. If Murray gets a great offer for Hiller, my bet is he'd move him and roll with Fasth going forward for the rest of the year, although if I was a betting man I'd say they keep both for the remainder of the season (a safer route).

That said, if it was between Holtby and Hiller in a one year, I'd go Holtby only because he is pretty much the clear starter in Washington right now and they're finally starting to play better under Oates' system.
