He will be out 1-2 weeks with an upper-body injury.

G: Lundqvist, Quick, Condon
Me too.
I need that IR to show up by late-Wednesday. (for Wed night adds)
These Malkin injuries are just killing my DobberEntry league team, which is a weekly-lock.
The first injury occured on the first game of a 4-game week.
So I get zero stats for the next three games.
Then I sit Malkin the following week (injured) and he comes back and plays in the final 2/3 games that week... so I miss those stats.
Then this week he gets injured in first game of a 4-game week.
So I get zero stats for the next three games.
Basically, 6 games of ZERO stats to go with 2 games of missed stats... from a 1st round pick slot. Yeesh. [That's like 4G, 6A, 20-25 SOG... damn]
Geno, can you at least get injured at the END of the week???
Ja-damn.

My first 2 picks in a 1 year points league... Malkin and Karlsson. No chance at 1st now but fighting to hold on to 2nd.

Evgeni Malkin (upper body) did some skating on his own Tuesday.
Malkin is expected to miss one to two weeks with what's thought to be a shoulder injury. Coach Dan Bylsma has been predictably tight-lipped about the injury other than to say it's not a concussion. Keep him on reserve for now.

Don't mistake opinion for fact.
I actually have a little bit of suspicion that the Pens are giving him a breather over the next week to avoid some "tougher opponents".
Tue: vs. BOS
Thurs: vs. TOR
Sat: vs. NYR
Sun: vs. BOS
Those are four of the rougher teams in the East.
I'll peg his return date as:
Tue Mar 19th vs. Was (@ PIT). They've also got a bunch of games at home coming up - so they may also just want to give him a rest from travel.
But it just seems like he's only a little banged up. Maybe just banged up enough to give him some time off without making him seem like a wuss. (Not that he is... but the Pens can beat some teams without him and they'll make the playoffs... so keeping a guy from cracking is more important at this point.)
My 2 cents.
From Rotowire:
Edit: but also found this on twitterPens' coach Dan Bylsma wouldn't rule Evgeni Malkin (undisclosed) out of weekend home games against the Rangers and Boston, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
Skated today on his own with strength coach Mike Kadar. Will NOT be playing Sat vs. NYR”

Evgeni Malkin (upper body) skated Sunday morning but will not play against the Boston Bruins this afternoon.
Malkin has now missed the last four games with what is believed to be a shoulder injury. There is still no timetable on his return.
