Evgeni Malkin (upper body) and Kris Letang (lower body) will not play Tuesday against the Washington Capitals.

Malkin hasn't played since March 9 with what is believed to be a shoulder injury. There's no timetable for his return, which can also be said for Letang. The puck-moving defenseman aggravated an earlier injury during Sunday's game against Boston and it's unclear how serious the ailment is. We'll update you as soon as we know more.

Looking like Malkin and Letang are out tonight. Letang skating with Bortuzzo and Malkin not skating with Neal during skate.

Evgeni Malkin (right shoulder) and Kris Letang (lower body) are termed "day to day" by Penguins coach Dan Bylsma.
Both participated in Friday's morning skate, but didn't play for that night's game. "It (the team's place in the standings) really has no bearing on whether (Malkin) plays," Bylsma said. "While close, he's not there yet. We're going to take our time with the injury." There's a chance both could return for Sunday's game, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review's Josh Yohe.

Evgeni Malkin (shoulder) will not play in Sunday's contest against the Philadelphia Flyers.
The Russian native was on the ice for the morning skate Sunday, but Malkin is still feeling pain in his shoulder. He is however pretty close to a return to action.

This guy has to be this year's "weekly league lock killer".

    Stop teasing me Geno.
I put you in the damn line-up on Thursday night because you said you felt ready to play on Friday night. No Friday game... no Sunday game.

    Ugh... so frustrated.
    (Effin weekly lock...)
