Oh, jeez. I'd take Markstrom. And that's not a knock on Lehner.

    a)Talent level is higher, IMO.
b)Better situation. Noone is pushing him. In Ottawa, Lehner needs to deal with Ben Bishop who is a pretty good goalie in his own right.

Pretty even talent. Markstrom has the size advantage, but Lehner, imo, has the stronger mind. Both tenders should have a nice team in front of them. Ottawa has the better team now and Lehner is further along in development. He should be THE guy, but Bishop is in the pipeline. My only concern with Markstrom is how the team around him develops. Between the two, I'd probably lean Markstrom because there is no threat in the Fla pipeline to steal starts from him like Bishop may do from Lehner.

Very thankful for this thread considering this will likely be my decision come keeper time if I don't land a better keeper goalie. It seems as though Markstrom has the easier road to the #1 gig. Does that make him the front-runner?

Thanks for your input. 17 votes in and it's a dead heat.

Why is "doesn't matter" a option in this poll?? Seems like a waste of a vote..

The goal here is to see who people like more for the future: Markstrom or Lehner..

Lehner has already proven to be the better goalie. Only hurdle he will have is Anderson.

How has he proven to be a better goalie?

Lehner has had better NHL games among the two in the small sample size that we've seen. The jury is still out for me.

he's been better in the NHL and in the AHL. By a wide margin in the AHL actually.

    AHL Stat's for both guys..

    Lehner: 25-30-3 3.05 GAA and 5 shutouts..

    Markstrom: 33-32-3 2.68 GAA and 2 shutouts..

Lehner was amazing in the playoffs though with Binghamton(2010-11) going 14-4 with a sparkling 2.10 GAA in 19 games..

Pretty sure those stats don't include this season.

and yeah, winning a championship and MVP shows more than stats.
