    Default Trading Crosby

In a 1-year league, would giving up Tavares and Patty Kane for Crosby be too much payment, or is it worth it? Thanks for the help guys

Too much to give up. Crosby >> than either of those guys. But Crosby + some FA is not >> than both of them. You've got two top fantasy guys. If one goes down with an injury, you've still got a top 10 guy. Now, for two second tier guys, I'd do it. Or if Tavares was not one of them, I'd do it. (Not that I don't like Kane - it's just that JT is a monster). But both of them for Crosby? Nope.

At first glance no I dont think it would be worth it. I dont see Crosby outscoring them by enough to justify it but we need to know who you would be able to pickup to fill the empty roster spot ..... The deal is really Crosby and a waiver pickup for Tavares and Kane

    Available as FA are:

    Filpulla
    Michalek (IR)
    Andy Mac (IR)
    Weiss
    Grabovski
    Roy
    Galchenyuk
    Little
    Fisher
    Mcginn

I'd probably go after McGinn if I made this trade

Your team is better with Tavaras and Kane than with Crosby+Mcginn IMO

Nope I would stand pat ..... to give an idea of impact to your team if you were to use Filppula as the waiver pickup you are looking at the following totals so far this season.

    PK + JT = 23G, 26A, +2, 14 PIM, 19 PPP, 134 SOG, 7 Hits
    SC + VF = 13G, 27A, +9, 10 PIM, 12 PPP, 110 SOG, 18 Hits

    Good assessment!

I would also add the durability factor - with Malkin out, opposing defenses will zero in on Crosby. Not suggesting he will not produce elite numbers (because he will - he is a generational talent) but he will get hit harder, checked harder, etc....and then there is the injury history of the past 2 seasons with Sid - although I hope that never happens again.
In comparison, PK and JT have been quite durable in their careers so far. Not wanting to jinx anybody, but to my knowledge, neither has faced the dreaded "C" word yet.

In short, I am a huge fan of Sid, his game and the skills that he brings to the table every game but those 2 guys are no slouches and there just isn't enough WW talent to balance out the deal in my opinion.

I would pretty much repeat what everyone before me has stated. Of course we all want Sid the Kid on our team. We have to be able to separate wants from needs though. At the end of the season you'd regret the trade seeing how many points you lost out from owning Tavares & Kane over Crosby + WW player.

I disagree with most people here, assuming you have a games cap.

They think you're trading Kane and Tavares and playing Crosby + WW player.

No, the WW player goes on the bench.

    This is what happens...

You turn Tavares into Crosby at C.

You turn P Kane into Voracek (once Malkin is back)

    PK + JT = 23G, 26A, +2, 14 PIM, 19 PPP, 134 SOG, 7 Hits
    SC + Voracek = 17G, 37A, +5, 14 PIM, 21 PPP, 132 SOG, 20 Hits

    Now which side is better?

EDIT: Didn't see the 2 UTIL spots. Okay forget this analysis. I agree with above and the Tavares Kane side is better.
