Default Zach Redmond (Cut @ Practice)

    Bad bad news:

Scary moment here at PNC Arena and it looks like #NHLJets D Zach Redmond may have suffered a cut to his leg. Medical staff on ice now
    Chip Alexander ‏@ice_chip
Ambulance apparently being called. Scary moment for Jets. Claude Noel out on ice with Redmond.

    Chip Alexander ‏@ice_chip
Ambulance has arrived. Redmond will be transported to hospital. A number of Jets players, coaches gathered around him.

Thanks for putting this up here. I actually do have him in my cap league as a bargain fill in while Gardiner is in the AHL.

Listening to some interviews, and it sounds like there was an awful lot of blood on the ice.

Thank goodness he got safely to a hospital and is in good care.

Now there's a man who's not afraid to go into the corners!

Sounds like Redmond is out of surgery and stable.

The Jets have announced that Redmond underwent surgery Thursday for approximately three hours to repair a laceration to his right femoral artery and vein, the Winnipeg Free Press reports. He is out indefinitely.
    Spin:
Redmond suffered an injury to his mid-thigh region after he was cut by a skate blade during Thursday's practice. The Jets will release additional updates on his condition in the coming days, but the statement did note that Redmond is resting comfortably, so hopefully the blueliner's recovery will be as smooth as possible.

Holy hell! The femoral artery?!? Wow, just an amazing job by the medical staff on hand. Ugly as it was, it could have been so much worse.

Yeah... the femoral artery is firmly in the 'less the 5 minutes to bleed out' category if it is cut through...

    Glad he is okay.

Zach Redmond is back skating today! Unreal. 6 weeks ago his life was in jeopardy, then after he was stable the probability of his career continuing was 50/50, and today doctor's are saying that the strength of his leg is already at 75%. They expect that he'll be good to go for training camp, and he'll likely be ready even before that. Amazing story, and just an incredible recovery. Great to hear.
