PS4 to be announced today?

I think the best platform, to this day, for JRPGs is still the PS2 and after that it's the SNES (or the GBA/DS, since a lot of it's been ported). The only JRPG I've really enjoyed in the last few years has been Lost Odyssey for the 360, but then again I haven't played Xenoblade Chronicles, The Last Story or Ni No Kuni.

I was just going to say Ni No Kuni looks great. Played the demo and was impressed, though I can definitely wait for a price drop.

To stay on topic, I'll likely wait 2 years for the PS4 (my usual status quo when it comes to new consoles).

That'd make sense too- but the profit they're turning on PS3s and a weak market for consoles this year, why bother? Delay a little more until there's a better market...

if they tell the developers to be ready by a certain date for a launch it is in their best interest to hit that date

I'm not doubting that you're right, it just seems to be poorly timed to me.
