Sometimes teams do IR moves retroactively as an indication that players will come off the IR sooner, rather than later.

It'd be best to just keep following this thread to see what's happening from day to day. The sooner he starts skating...the more likley he's nearing a return.

Rick Nash (undisclosed) has been placed on the injured reserve list.
Nash was already ruled out for Saturday's game and is eligible to be activated in time for Tuesday's contest. That being said, given how secretive the Rangers have been about Nash, we're don't like the chances of him playing on Tuesday either.

Right on. If a player is participating in morning skate, does that usually mean he's playing that night?...

Rick Nash (undisclosed) could be a possibility to return as early as Thursday's game against Tampa.
"I'm definitely making progress," Nash said Wednesday. "It's just exciting to be back out with the boys and back out in a full practice. Definitely a lot of energy out there." How he feels after the morning skate may determine whether he plays or sits out for a fifth consecutive time. Source: New York Newsday
