    Default Is Allen staying?

Hey Guys, anyone know if Jake Allen will be sticking around when Halak returns? Is it possible for the Blues to send Elliot down and keep Allen? Has he been good enough?

Waiver wire for my keeper league is this Wednesday and I'm thinking of picking him up.

Blues aren't sending Elliott to minors after a tough start to the season. He proved himself to them last year and three good games from Allen and tough start by Elliott isn't enough for them to send Elliott to minors.

Only way for Allen to stay with the Blues is if Elliott gets traded.

Allen has looked fantastic. I hope he gets a starting chance someday.

You wont see Allen staying, although that doesnt mean he hasnt earned the right. He's on a 2 way deal so he will be sent down soon. Elliott would have to clear waivers and I dont see that happening from St Louis' stand point. He wouldnt clear.

Elliott will serve as a buffer while Allen gets playing time in the minors.

it is true that allen doesnt have to clear waivers going to the minors but its the combination of his age, nhl games played, and years after signing his nhl deal based on age not his contract that determines that actually

yes, you are right, those all come into play as far as Allen being shipped back to the AHL without fear of waivers.

Either way, unless St Louis plans on carrying 3 goalies full time, Allen will be sent back to the AHL soon so he can get the playing time.

Blues called up Jake Allen after yesterday's game. This could get interesting. Halak got pulled in yesterday's game but I think that was performance related, not injury related. So they're rolling with 3 goalies now. Maybe they'll trade Brian Elliott to Carolina now that Cam Ward is injured?

It's going to be interesting to see what happens here. It's definitely not good for Allen to keep him up if they're not intending to use him.

If he's up they will use him. One of the other guys will probably be #3 for a while.

Allen has the chance to really complicate things here... if he comes on in as shutdown as he was last call-up, he could even potentially force his way into the #1 spot pretty quickly. Halak's batting .884 this season, so he's not untouchable I don't think.

Tons of pressure on Allen here... let's see how he does.

In a keeper league, Allen's a sure stash-and-pray. There's nothing that gets me salivating more in a keeper league than a 22 year old goalie who's flashing potential in a situation where his team is getting frustrated with existing options.

Yeah, that's what I mean. It seems the writing is on the wall for Elliott.

    Solid speculation.
I can't see Carolina going through the season without a guy that can be a #1 goalie.
St.Louis may be "auditioning" both Jake Allen and Brian Elliott to see which one they can fetch something for... or whether Allen is the real deal.

Pretty crazy that St.Louis is actually doing well defensively (still the best SOGA in the NHL), but the goalies are crapping the bed.

That -5 that Alex Pietrangelo is carrying around (due to the crappy STL goaltending) isn't going to get him any Norris votes this year.
