Similar question.. Kuemper playing great.
Does anyone know what the Wild status is as far as Backstrom is? How long is he signed for? If Kuemper plays studly in relief, when is the earliest he'd likely take the starting role in Minnesota?
Backstrom not starting again tonight. Is Kuemper worth a pick up in a deep league? Also does anyone know how long he'll be replacing Harding?

Starting role? Whoa. Slow down. This is a situation worth monitoring. Kuemper is a hell of a goalie , in his own right, but he has to contend with Hackett for Minn's goalie of the future. Now is his time to impress. But I wouldn't put all my eggs in the Kuemper basket. Backstrom still has some gas in the tank as well. So you're some ways off with Kuemper starting.

The post above me is spot on. Kuemper will likely be duking it out with Hackett for the starting job... about 2014-15 at the earliest. Good prospect in a dynasty? Yes. Full time starter anytime soon? No.

Backstrom is a UFA at the end of the season.
There is a VERY GOOD chance he wont be resigned.
Harding is sick from a new medication he is on... so he is day to day
Kuemper was called up because in the last 2 months in 9 games Kuemper has a 1.32GAA and .954 SV% with 3 shutouts in the AHL...
He was still in a backup roll but was pushing for more games...
Matt Hackett is still the workhorse and the true 3rd string.... he was still posting very respectable #s with 2.50 and .915 in his last 13 games... but he was on a 7 game losing streak....
If you have a deep League with a farm Kuemper is worth picking up... but likely arrival is still 2-3 years away... and has yet to show an ability to a work horse starter at the AHL level... mostly due to Hackett in the way...
Also this is Backstrom's last contract year... you can find this easily on Capgeek.com
Current Roster:
F: H Sedin, Plekanec, Perry, Cammalleri, Oshie, Stepan, Anisimov, Kunitz, Justin Williams, Little, Baertchi, Huberdeau, Eberle, Rattie, Hoffman, Holland, Horvat, Dano, Dal Colle, Kerdiles
D: Boumeester, Green, Carlson, Del Zotto, Myers, Alzner, M Staal, Pouliot, Gormley, Mueller
G: Varlamov, Mrazek, Niemi, Vasilevski, Ramo, Hellebuyck
Minnesota will ride the hot hand for the time being and rightfully so, because Kuemper has been great. As the others mentioned, Matt Hackett is just as good or maybe better. Look no further than his relief shutout (although it's not counted as one officially) of the Sharks last year, in which he turned aside all 34 shots he faced.
His numbers as a whole were very impressive last year.
12 GP, 7 GS, 3 W, 2.38 GAA, .922 SV%
As the others mentioned, Hackett and Kuemper will battle it out for the starting gig in the future.

"Be yourself; everyone else is already taken."
"Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle."
The initial thought was that Kuemper would be sent down once Harding is healthy again. However, given how Kuemper has played, what's the likelihood they keep him? I figure they don't want to rush his development so it'd be wise to send him back down.
I can't promise I'll try but I'll try to try.
