    Default Targeting Kessel or Iginla

Attempted to get some opinions in an existing thread, but figured I'd start my own thread rather than hijacking.

Looking to gamble on Kessel and/or Iginla going a tear sooner than later to help my teams scoring woes (bottom of all categories except SOG but lost Karlsson...)

I'm looking to take advantage of the Kessel owner's inexperience/lack of hockey knowledge, or take advantage of the Iginla owner's lack of patience with him.

Thinking of throwing out an offer of Steen + Purcell for either one. Fair? Too little? Too much? Steen's been on an absolute tear but I just picked him up a game ago (he got me 3-points against Calgary).

He has C,LW eligibility which is nice, and his stats are incredibly close to Kessel (and better than Iggy's). Considered offering Steen for Kessel straight-up (the guy really doesn't know hockey), but I figure my league-mates would vote against it AND I need to free up a spot for Kesler from IR anyway.

Also thought about packing Purcell with Getzlaf, but figured I'd try and entice them with Steen's hot-streak and season-stats to-date.

Any advice on this is much appreciated. Team's currently in 9th and I think it's time to start making moves and hope they pay off. Thanks!

    Anyone?

If it's too long-winded of a post, I suppose it boils down to this:

Is Steen for real? Or should I look to capitalize on his recent point-streak and move him for a 'stud' before it cools?

I would never accept Steen + Purcell for Kessel or Iginla. Thats ridiculous

So what you're saying is if it works for me then it's a great deal?

I would never expect anyone on this site to accept a deal like that. But these guys in my league really don't know any better. The Kessel owner doesn't follow hockey and this is his first time playing fantasy. He's likely to look at the stat totals for the players in the deal and make his mind up based on that.

The Iggy owner is not quite as green, but he has a history of making panic moves.

If you think the deals are that ridiculous, would you mind looking over my squad and offering another suggestion? Again, I KNOW what Kessel and Iginla are capable of, which is exactly why I'm looking to target them NOW before they start playing like their true selves.

Steen and Purcell is a fair offer, not my cup of tea, but you could easily make a case for why it's a better side. Purcell is a very good player, and Steen has been underrated for a good while, and is really looking good this season. I would try sending Purcell and Steen, if they don't bite, they don't bite, and it's no big deal. I would certainly not want to trade both Purcell and Getzlaf for either one of Kessel or Iginla though.

My thoughts exactly. 2-for-1s are always good because you free up a roster spot to add a waiver wire (or in the case Kesler who you want to activate ASAP now that he's back). If he doesn't know hockey maybe he'll bite at the deal, it never hurts to offer.

So the Iginla owner bit at my offer and accepted my Purcell/Steen for his Iginla/Versteeg.

Going to drop Versteeg to activate Kesler from IR, so essentially got Iginla/Kesler for Purcell/Steen.

Good move for me? Hoping Iggy rounds into form and Steen slows down to his usual 40-50 point pace. We'll see, I can sure use the help.
