    Default Visonvsky's future??

Is he going to finish out this last year of his contract and return home?

It looked like his NHL days were over prior to being forced to report, and I have not read anything to suggest that he will remain in the NHL after this season. No word of extensions or plans of that nature that I can find. I know he has brought his family over with him, but that may just be for this season.

I am contemplating acquiring him, but not if it is only for 30 more games.

    Any insight appreciated!

I wish I had the answer for you -- I'm wondering the same thing. Figured this might bump the thread.

I'm guessing, since I can't find anything online, that nobody knows what his plans are going forward.

I would have to guess that YES, he wants to stay in the NHL.

He had a contract with an actual salary that declined from like $6m to $4m to $3m (this year), so he's actually only getting about $1.6m. So it's not like he came back for a huge pay day. More likely, he's playing to get one more big contract (this summer) to secure him for his future. That's my guess.

Yeah, my concern is that he's hoping to play overseas (as he indicated during the lockout) and he's got to finish his NHL contract before being eligible there.

Well... did he need to finish it off himself... as in "play it out"?
Or does it just need to end? (i.e. Could he have just waited until it expired on July 1st).

Good point. But it still makes me nervous. A year of waiting it out wouldn't be ideal I'm sure for any player. I hope you're right, but he's a guy that could easily sign overseas this summer. I'm just hoping someone will find a link where he expresses his desire to continue in the NHL.

I think he was OK to be suspended by NYI, but things seemed to change when KHL said that he could no longer play with them. Then, he suddenly seemed OK to come over, as he had no option in the KHL.

I guess he could have just been suspended by both leagues, but seemed to take the option to simply honour his last year.

Nothing indicating to me that he has any plans in the NHL after this season.

I am surprised that there has been NO talk of resigning him in NYI

Something to consider is the health of his son.

Have no idea what surgery he had or what illness he has but that was what was keeping him from reporting, and I believe it was also one of the driving forces of him wanting to stay in Europe.

    Just me speculating though.

Ya, I think it was surgery of some sort, so that what caused his delay. But, prior to that, he was pretty clear that he wanted to stay in Europe and not report to NYI.

Hard to tell if it is better for his family to be in NA or back home.

Would REALLY be nice to know, cause even if he came back for one year I would really consider him in a deal. right now, John Carlson is the asking price and no way I would do it for 30 games of Vis. Totally blows though, cause Carlson is killing me and I am neck and neck for first.
