Saw this coming a mile away after Tangradi deal. Thought it be either him or Wellwood.

There was just too much of a stockpile at bottom-six. Got a 7th back and a 4th for a guy who did absolutely nothing.

another guy who has kicked around and not lived up to expectations...so basically the Jets have made out pretty well I think:

    they get:

    -Tangradi
    -2014 4th
-2013 7th (lesser in value, but its a 7, who cares?)

    they give

    -Poni

Wow what a bad deal for NJ losing a 4th. Well guess NJ just doesn't want to give the time to the youngsters just yet. They have nice talent but always fill in with vets. But then again it usually works out.

Good for the Jets. I haven't watched Tangradi play, but surely he's as good if not better than Poni, with some sliver of a chance of upside. Grabbing an extra 4th is a nice bonus.

Poni fit well in NJ his last time around so if he can recover that chemistry then the 4th rounder isn't a bad loss. NJD are in win now mode anyway.

Did someone just lament the loss of a fourth round pick in a trade? Poni ain't much but at least he's an NHL calibre player, which is more than you can say for most fourth round selections. Just playing the odds a fourth round pick has like a 4% chance of being an NHL player.

Now I grant you that every pick has value from the sheer sense of the random chance of discovering not just an NHL player but also a star at that point in the draft you want to have as many picks as possible but from sheer face value a fourth round pick is an easy price to pay for an NHL player.
