    Default Whitney Destinations?

    http://blogs.edmontonjournal.com/201...-ryan-whitney/

Speculation that Whitney is on the trade block.

Anyone got thoughts on potential trading partners.

Wherever he goes I think we can all agree he isn't likely to get there particularly quickly...

As an Oiler fan, ouch! Who the hell is going to want a $4M defenseman who sucks on a team that needs defensemen? Can you say salary dump? C'mon Glen, wouldn't you like to help out your old team and deal MDZ to Edmonton? You know Torts doesn't like him all that much...

Yeah, that contract kind of looks as bad as Vernon Wells' in baseball.

Good luck moving him, unless you are prepared to pay at least half of his salary.

Contract has 2.5 months left on it, not a big deal

We could trade him to a speed skating team... that way at least he'd only have to skate forward.

I understand he has been injured the past two years but he is still a mobile PP QB that isn't horrible defensivley.

I think this is more of Kruger not liking his fit with the team.

Detroit for sure off the top of my head, maybe Philly or even Dallas. Return to PITT?

Either way...as a disgruntled Whitney owner, I supposed I had better hold on to him now to see where he lands.

I was seconds away from dropping him and picking up either
    Green
    Franson
    Faulk
    Tyutin
    or even Gonchar.

At the end of the day, I'm talking about a non keeper D anyway. I just don't like having my plan derailed. lol

Are you telling us that Mike Green and Justin Faulk are FA's in your league???? You have to take those guys over Whitney. Whitney isn't even close to their levels at anymore.

Yes, Green has yet to be picked up and Faulk was dropped last week and now available.

My hesitation is that I only have 2 more waiver moves to make this year. I just picked up Wiz as a 5th D (as Smith is on the IR and Whitney on the bench)...but no matter who I pick up, they won't be kept over my current 4 headed Keeper D beast of: Karlsson, Doughty, Edler and OEL.

    (correct?)

Figured that my need for D is for depth only. SO may not be a prudent move to burn a waiver pick on one of these 2.

    Am I mistaken?

He has been sucking but I see no point giving him away for a low pick at this point unless the Oilers staff thinks Potter > Whitney. Giving him away for a low pick kind of gives me the impression the Oilers are giving up on the season already.

Would love to get a serviceable dman back for him at this point though.

Green definitely has the potential to become a keeper for you by the end of this season. This is a D-man with two PPG seasons under his belt. He's looked good in the two games I've seen from him this season. I'm not a big believer in him but he should definitely be owned in any league and you should definitely use one of your remaining waiver moves to grab him. Green has decent 6 points in 12 games while playing for a struggling Capitals team. When they get it going, Green has a great chance to improve his point totals if he stays healthy.

Whitney should under no circumstances be owned over Green.

    OOOPS! Damn! Mystery solved.

ANDY GREENE ... NOT MIKE GREEN (sorry...wasn't thinking about Mike when I wrote that and missed that you specified).

I assume my holding out makes more sense now? Or am I being a dumb ass for not snapping up Faulk?

Keep in mind...I only keep 4 D...Not sure Andy Greene or Justin Faulk could crack that keeper list? (especially with Brendan Smith in the wings should he come back and light it up).

(note I'm FULL NAMING players now! ) lol. Sorry about that confusion.

Like saying..."Buddy just dropped Benn...is he worth the pick up?"
    ahhh...No...I mean "JORDIE"
