You're losing the best forward and the best defenseman... so no.
So I originally offered a swap of my Enstrom for his Pacioretty looking to improve my offense. He countered with a big proposal
My:
St Louis
Enstrom
His:
Datsyuk
Pacioretty
Suter
I'm losing the best player in this deal, but since this is a points only league and a deep one at that (14 teams), I'm really wondering what is the right move here.
For me:
St Louis/Enstrom > Datsyuk/Pacioretty but it's very close
So the way I'm looking at it, the real decision is on Suter and how much of an upgrade he would be to the rest of my defensive core. The guy also has Weber, and I'm thinking of countering with the same offer and replacing Suter with Weber

Usually I'm of the idea that best player in the deal wins, and in a situation where you are giving up the best player and the best D in the trade, you would think that you were on the losing side of the deal, but to me you are not.
Pacioretty is a great player, who has more than enough talent to make the difference between St. Louis and Datsyuk, on top of that you are in a pretty sizeable league, so Pacioretty because an even more appealing add in the trade when you consider what's available as free agents, or even the bottom rung players on your own team.
Enstrom has started off great, while Suter has not. But they are close, and to me it's a pretty lateral move.
Essej, I tend to agree with your point of view. Remeber, this is a points only league and with Suter as the third piece in the deal, I view this as a pretty lateral move. The question is, if I can get Weber off him, does that make the deal worth it. Is Weber that much of an upgrade over Suter? I mean, there's no better time to sell high on Enstrom than right now. As good a Dman he is, there's obviously no way he can keep up this production. St. Louis right now, is on a 130 pt pace over a fulll 82 game season. He's great, but he's not Crosby or Malkin. I see Pacioretty as a 70 pt player and Datsyuk as a near PPG player with a slight injury risk and I think the fact that my league is so deep means that Pacioretty, who would be replacing a player like Sergei or Bouchard, becomes that much more valuable. From this point of view, what do you guys think?
