He passed his medical and will practice with the team on Friday. Could start as soon as Saturday, but might need more time.

I'm worried about his motivation at this point. Is he into it enough to be productive?

I know. That dressing room has to be an uncomfortable place for him early on, too.

Still, it's hard to imagine Visnovsky and Streit not doing well together on a PP with Tavares. I picked him up this week, so I sure hope he can find some early chemistry on that team.

The problem is that he just finished a season where he managed to not produce even though he was on the same team as Getzlaf, Ryan, Perry and Selanne. Then all the crap started where he basically didn't want to play anymore. I just can't trust the guy. Glad it's someone else's problem in my leagues.

I picked him up off FA, No risk, No reward... the reward here is a lot bigger than the risk... so why not add if you have something worth dropping.

Same deal w/ Burns, add stash on IR.
Visnovsky, I dropped E Johnson... who was doing nothing anyway.

Hard to fail if you placed in opportunities to succeed. Nabokov turned around the hate in NYI, why can't VIZZY????

Seriously though, the cost is low here.... why wouldn't you risk it?

He is a season removed from being top off. def in the league... don't forget.
    Keep4+rookie under 150gp (14 teams): G,A,+/-,PIM,SHP,PPP,GWG,SOG,FW, W/GAA/SV/SV%/SHO [Keepers: E Staal, Parise, Backes, Malkin, (R) Desharnais]

This is what I mentioned in my article for Fantrax this week. It's all about context. He has a certain value in the world and if I had something expendable (ie Philip Larsen in a one-year lague) then yeah I would take the risk.

Keep in mind that his terrible season corresponded with an overall terrible performance by all of the 'stars' in Anaheim

Ok so the offer on the table is my Varlamov for Visnovsky. League in sig. Key is whether Visnovsky will produce enough points over the remainder to be a reasonable counter. When we trade we get the full-season value of the player in return. I'm also not sure there is much more of a market for Varly.

Way too much of an overpay.

Why deal Varlamov anyway, you're definitely not gonna get good value fo rhim.

I'd be looking to shop Anderson or Dubnyk. You'll get a much better return.

I'll probably end up shopping Dubnyk too, but for now I will keep an extra around for insurance. The problem is, there isn't much of a market for middle ground goaltenders in our league. Most of the 12 teams already have one established keeper and each day the season drags on more and more teams will start dropping out of the race, meaning they'll have little need for a second goaltender. Additionally, I'm not convinced that Varly will put up good enough numbers to increase his trade value anytime soon.
